Carjackers pounce on American visitor, wife By CARLO SUERTE FELIPE July 21, 2010, 5:42pm The Mandaluyong City Police (MCPO) are warning the public to be alert against the "Bundol Gang" whose members recently targeted a visiting American national and his Filipino wife who arrived in Manila last week. According to PO2 Danilo Patoc, a car was hijacked last July 16 along the Epifanio delos Santos Ave.-Shaw Boulevard underpass. The vehicle was driven by one Rogelio Marllon, Jr., 32, who was with his stepfather Frederick Boutcher and mother Priny. They were bound for Pangasinan. Marllon said he had fetched his parents from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport that day using a gold Isuzu Crosswind SUV (with plate number XJV-499). At around 1:10 a.m., a red Toyota Innova suddenly cut their path and five unidentified gunmen alighted from the vehicle. He said the gunmen asked him to alight from the vehicle. The suspects then took over the SUV and drove northbound, taking the Boutcher couple with them. Marllon immediately proceeded to the MCPO and reported the incident. During the initial investigation, a call from Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 11 at Galas informed MCPO's Intelligence Unit that the Boutcher couple was in their area and said that a group of men had stolen the vehicle of their son. Further investigation revealed that the Boutchers noted that personal belongings, documents, and jewelries valued to be around P2.5 million were inside the stolen vehicle. Obviously Someone inside the Airport (most probably in the scanning area) is tipping off the gang and they are preying on Visitors and Balikbayans.. Noticed a few days prior that a similar incident happened at the NAIA.... Let hope the Police can put two and two together and start their surveillance on this gang... |
