update from TEAM UDMC

Quote:

The 11 units of PVAR PDW’s will be billed to the PN.  By the way sir, the 11 units were non-serviceable M16A1’s already condemned for “de-milling” (destruction) and UDMC was asked to refurbish and upgrade them into PVAR PDW’s. Attached are the pics BEFORE and AFTER. The original markings and serial numbers in the lower receivers were preserved and we used the same internal parts (lamang-loob) in the lower receivers but the rest of the parts are all brandnew. Note: All springs of the internal parts were also changed with new ones.

was there a bidding for this?

di ba repair and refurbishment of AFP weapons and equipment also require bidding?

asking bec i did nt see a philgeps posting for these 11 PVAR PDW by UDMC.

if there was no bidding, how come UDMC was awarded the contract for the repair & upgrade of these rifles?

if they bill the navy for the cost of repairing the rifles, then its just like paying electric bill or the water bill.

Upgrading all Mothballed M16s has totally revolutionized it to the next level and come up with a Bnew-like Assault rifle for our troops....I think we got lots of mothballed M16s and needs to be upgrade to PVAR level..

sharing team udmc reply to my query in the other forum:

Horizon sir:
The 11 PDWs for the Navy is not a commercial transaction. This is a co-R&D project with the Navy and the billing (or reimbursement) we will submit will be “at cost”, without mark-up. Our objective in the co-R&D is to come up with a weapon that is Filipino in design but worldclass in quality. Therefore sir, our cooperation with the Navy is non-commercial in nature and we don’t expect to derive income from this co-R&D. There is even no contract nor Purchase Order in Udmc’s favor since, as we explained, there was no intention to make it a commercial transaction and in fact the 11 units cannot even be considered commercial in quantity.

this is good news.

the m16s of the AFP can be upgraded by UDMC under its R&D at very low cost.
