That's my biggest worry in fact. For the next 5 years, i would wish to see more Coastal Patrol Boats or Offshore Patrol Vessels to secure our EEZ and control piracy, smuggling as well as terrorism. Then after this has been 100% completed, we can start buying the missile-firing frigates that also carries a ASW chopper as well as missile-firing corvettes. Later on, our own attack submarine and destroyers armed with AEGIS system and Standard missiles to make us at par with our neighbors and to allow us to join an international armada that aims to address a nuclear threat from warmongering nations. I believe that this is the ideal and cost-efficient road to take. AT THE MOMENT, LET'S SECURE OUR EEZ AND CONTROL SMUGGLING, PIRACY AND TERRORISM. WE NEED MORE CYCLONE-class ships or the Andrada-class boats. See below; ![]() SHIPS LIKE THIS ARE GOOD FOR COASTAL PATROL AND EVEN LITTORAL. ![]() I SUGGEST THE CYCLONE-CLASS SHIP LIKE THE ABOVE PHOTO FOR MULTI-ROLE CONCEPTS. Anti-terrorism and anti-piracy. ![]() Andrada-class ![]() Batillo-class / ex-Korean PKM We also need maybe a hundred of these (PKMs and other gunboats) to guard the coastal and littoral waters. ![]() Then more ships the size of the Jacinto-class for offshore patrols. |

that's the 5-year allowance. In fact, these ships are cheap since it doesnt carry expensive missiles systems. Only the Offshore Patrol Vessels like the Jacint0-class will have the 90 mm guns. |

By the way, i highly suggest giving all boats less than 30 meters in length to the Coast Guard. Coast Guard will be the primary patrollers of the coast up to 100 KM from the shore while the Navy with it's bigger ships will patrol beyond that region. So, all small boats except the Andrada-class, PKMs and Cyclone-class should be turned over to the Coast Guard and let the Coast Guard fulfill its duties. The Andrada-class boats on the other hand will be used by the Navy to monitor the coasts of critical areas like around Mindanao, Negros, Mindoro and Quezon for counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations. The Navy can then maximize the use of its men for external and COIN related activities while the Coast Guard performing its duty to "Guard the Coasts". |
