An American, an Australian and a South Korean were among four people shot and wounded in a bar brawl involving police officers in the Philippine tourist resort of Puerto Galera, officials said Saturday.

An American, an Australian and a South Korean were among four people shot and wounded in a bar brawl involving police officers in the Philippine tourist resort of Puerto Galera, officials said Saturday.

American John Grimm, 45, and Paul Andrew Jones, a 57 year-old Australian, were treated at a local hospital, each for a gunshot wound to their right foot, while Kim Myung-Hoon, a 38 year-old South Korean, was treated for a gunshot wound on the right thigh, the national police headquarters said.

A Filipino man was also shot on the right thigh while three other people including a South Korean man and a policeman suffered slight injuries, it said in a statement.

A policeman was detained and the beach resort's police chief was suspended from his post following the fight at a beachfront bar on Friday night, the police statement said.

The suspended Puerto Galera police commander, Superintendent James Brillantes, was a guest at the opening of the bar. His police escort officer exchanged blows with a group of foreign tourists before shots rang out, the police report said.

The escort officer was later detained while six other local policemen were placed under investigation, it added.

Puerto Galera and its white-sand beaches, located on the north coast of Mindoro island, is a major tourist destination.

It's really a disgrace when people who are task to protect tourists were the ones involved. Hope they will all be dismissed from the service. How could they justify to be armed inside a bar ? A cop who is armed inside a bar without any lawful purpose faces dismissal from the service. And in this case it has been aggravated by inflicting injuries to the bar patrons who were the tourists using the issued weapon. The nearest possible outcome for these cops is dismissal plus imprisonment.

Thats what happens when only military and police have guns... I would give them friggin cops a weapon and an hour headstart and then it would be a challenge to see if they can survive .... this time being the hunted... Thats just my take on the situation....Look at what happen down south when only the police and military had weapons. Massacres....
Whats the point.. Well drinking and guns equals rapes and massacres.... also when you got guns and no one else has them... Little feable men tend to be bold... I venture to say the cops were getting their arses kicked by those Caucasians and they resorted to guns to try to equalize their hurt egos... Thats what happens when they mess with Retired Military folks who most likely were combat vets... lol lol lol

There is only one word to describe a person who use a gun against those who are not armed. "COWARD"

They are lunatically reliant of their weapons. The policemen involved are the low lives without self-esteem and therefore don't deserve to hold a position for maintaining the peace as Peace Officers.
