The 560th Air Base Wing of the Philippine Air Force based in Mactan Air Base, Cebu recently marked its 41st foundation anniversary with the theme, “560th ABW at 41: Instep with Team AFP towards a more secure, safer, cleaner and more progressive Visayas.” A program was held at 10 a.m. at the Brig. Gen. Benito Ebuen Air Base Theatre with Air Force Chief Lt. Gen. Oscar Rabena, accompanied by his wife Jocelyn, as the guest of honor. Brig. Gen Edgardo C. Mendoza, 560th ABW Commander, led the commemoration and shared his accomplishments that encouraged his men to give their best services. One of the highlights of the celebration was the presentation of awards to outstanding members and supporters of the Wing. This year’s awardees included Lt. Col. Alfredo Senosa and A1C Henry R Estrada (military merit medal); 1Lt Cyrus Neoman dela Cruz and Sgt. Rico Capuno (military commendation medal). Plaques of recognition were given to Capt. Felix Montañez (officer of the year), TSgt. Jimmy Campitan (NCO of the year); A1C Benjied Abringe (AM of the year) and Evelyn Kidlat (civilian employee of the year). The 562nd Logistics Group was adjudged Group of the Year, while the 5622nd Motor Vehicle Squadron was named Squadron of the Year. Special Awards were also presented to Cpt. Adan Rose and A1C Abringe. Wing supporters also received plaques of appreciation, namely: Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza, Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority general manager and retired Brig. Gen. Danilo Augusto Francia, Mactan Island Golf Club and retired Brig. Gen. Rodante Joya, Accredited Cooperative Development Incorporated branch manager Rosielani Grefalda and Dr. Nonadel Soriano, campus director of Philippine State College of Aeronautics, Cebu.
