Once you undertake ROTC, you are a Reservist Trainee. You will get your SN upon completion of the Basic But you are considered as an INACTIVE RESERVIST. Seek for an application form for the SN which will be provided by Camp Aguinaldo. If your school has submitted your name for the MS11,12,21,22 and your ROTC office has authenticated them through submission your mother unit reservist center, then, your name will be found and will be processed for an SN. Once you attend more training and activities, you are now considered as active reservist. There are alot of benefits being a reservist. I would invite you, ladies & gentlemen to take that opportunity. It's a way to become a real citizen to serve your nation. |

When you finish the 2 year basic ROTC course with a diploma, you are already a reservist, but your rank might be in the category of a non-com except when you undergo another 2 years advance ROTC course, your reserve rank would be 2nd LT. |

Correction Sir TOPP. An Advance ROTC graduate need to take his Probationary Officer Training Course (POTC) (MS-43)and also has still to apply for commissionship and undergo the red tape. It's not automatic. Only graduates of the PNPA and the PMMA are automatically commissioned in the Reserve Force. Talk about equality. So if one wanted to get commissioned in the Reserve Force you don't need to take up the Advance ROTC. Just take your Basic ROTC, study well, earn your degree, masters and professional licenses. It's much easier since you will also undergo training (at least the 30 days UADT). Another option, be an elected official. If you're a college graduate, being a Kagawad can now earn you the rank of 2LT in the Reserves. Another one is, if you're an owner of a corporation involve in services that can be of help to the AFP, you could affilliate it with the Reserves. Being the President of such corporation could earn you an LTC rank and could apply for the MNSA. |

Sorry Saver, Maybe I was basing my info during my time. It was automatic during those days, but it's still quite the same in other aspects as well because if you want to join the AFP, you still have to undergo the probationary training period of 6 months before you are vested the rank as a regular officer. But in emergency cases where you are called for duty, the rank is automatic and if you are a licensed professional such as lawyers, doctors, engineers and other PRC licensed professionals you would eventually elevated to the next higher rank, as some advance ROTC grads are not professionals. |

I believe nowadays if you are an Advance ROTC Grad then you will be awarded a rang ranging from SGT to MSGT. Officer from Basic ROTC then you be given a rank of CPL. |

That's not the case. It would depend on the person assigned typing the enlistment order. Whether he don't know his job or don't care whatsoever of even checking records of Advance cadets who worked hard to at least get a higher rank. We had a Reservist who was the Corps Commander of his school, when he took his UADT to be an Active Ready Reservist his rank was still Airman. Nice way of recruiting people to take up ROTC.

I am wondering if i already have the "number" that i should have after graduating ROTC... kasi nung College ako, Varsity ako ng school namin..merong agreement between PE department at ROTC Department regarding sa pag attend ng rotc ng isang Varsity player at pag attend ng PE classes ng isang ROTC Cadet Officer. Ang usapan nila di na ako aatend ng ROTC at kukuha na lang ako ng grade sa rotc..vise versa naman sa mga Cadet Officers.. Ang malaking tanong sa Isipan ko..am i also issued the "number"? need ko lang malaman kasi i'm planning to be a full pledge reservist someday.. Anybody here have the same Experience? Thanks in advance.. |

Yep that's the sad part. Some of our Reservists are even MS 43 graduates. Last rank worn were vicks. Now enlisted SGT up. Some were former PA P2LT that when they visit ARESCOM are still recognized to wear the vicks. Since some of them took their P2LT course during the MCMTC days, it is the AFP that conferred them the rank and not the specific branch of service. These Reservists are just asking that at least they get commissioned in the Reserve Force. They are not asking to be commissioned in the Regular Force that they are given the hard time when the applying. At least the same treatment be given to them like their counterpart in the Advance ROTC coming from the PNPA and PMMA who were commissioned automatically in the Reserve Force. During those days they were all volunteers with no allowance unlike now and they could not still recruit cadets to go on Advance training.
