Another star could have been added to his shoulder had he co-operated with the NBI in the alleged bribery investigation. The issue is corruption and to be a model officer he should have executed a sworn statement on what his knowledge about the alleged bribery and who are those whom he alleged to have attempted to bribe him. To be at the helm of the so called PDEA, it requires a knowledgeable leader who is case and law oriented so that cases will not be trashed due to legal technicalities. Not an officer who acts like a politician by snubbing and ignoring subpoenas to shed light on what he called attempted bribery of fifty million pesos. How could you be a reliable law enforcer if you ignore investigation which is relevant to your given position ? If there was an attempted bribery addressed to him, he should remember that this is a crime and what he should have done is to catch the scam bug otherwise, one would believe that it was just a story of make-believe. In a simple view, it destroyed his credibility. What a waste of time and resources that the suspects were able to get away with it, and so with the prosecutors who were suspected of taking bribes capitalizing the loopholes that destroyed the accuracy of the case due to technical defects who also got away with it just because of hearsay accusations. I just don't know where to get the credit and to whom it shall be awarded. What could have been expected is either imprisonment of the suspects for the drug offense or imprisonment of the alleged corrupt prosecutors and disbarment of the counsel of one of the suspect who is known as Atty. Verano. |

Sir, it's just how people see them usually. Just like in other institutions, gaining the top award makes people believe you really are the best in everything. |

FYI, the BARON is the Brigade Commander of the CCAFP (Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines), and it does not mean that he gets the Top Award on their Graduation (It is till the Number one in the Class who gets it). Though it's a very prestigious position during Cadet days, it does not assure that he gets the Top Award. Outside of PMA or in the real world the most talked upon person is the one who graduated number 1 (sometimes the GOAT or the TARZAN of the class). Below is the partial awards given during Graduation Rites: (Borrowed from the MAsIKHAY '99 Website). AWARD BASIS PRESIDENTIAL SABER #1 In Graduation Merit Roll VICE-PRESIDENTIAL SABER #2 In Graduation Merit Roll SND SABER #3 In Graduation Merit Roll CG, PA SABER #1 in Army CG, PAF SABER #1 in Air Force FOIC, PN SABER #1 in Navy CHIEF OF STAFF SABER Brigade Commander, CCAFP AGUINALDO SABER #1 in in APT & CON & Leadership ATHLETIC SABER Most Accomplished Athlete ARMY PLAQUE #1 in in Army Core Courses AIR FORCE PLAQUE #1 in Air Force Core Courses NAVY PLAQUE #1 in Navy Core Courses CIS PLAQUE #1 in Computer Science ENG'G SCIENCES PLAQUE #1 in Engineering MANAGEMENT PLAQUE #1 in Management HUMANITIES PLAQUE #1 in DHUM PMA Core Courses MATHEMATICS PLAQUE #1 in DMAT PMA Core Courses PHYSICAL SCIENCES PLAQUE #1 in DPS PMA Core Courses SOCIAL SCIENCES PLAQUE #1 in DSS PMA Core Courses PHYSICAL EDUCATION PLAQUE #1 in PE Courses TAMBULI PLAQUE #1 in EE Courses |

Noted po. Thank you very much, Sir. Sir, those getting MOV awards and the gold cross awards, are they mostly from the PMA? How about in cases like that of Major Marcelino, what other great achievement's link the top awardees in PMA? |

I don't have the figures for MOV and GCM awards, but the funny thing is, the PMAers who get this Awards (well mostly) are those who didn't quite do good in their Academics during their Cadet days. Maybe because Offices in the AFP recruit these bright graduates and the not so good ones are sent to the battlefield. Obviously those in the battlefield will rack up those awards. Come to think of it, it's true. And those academic topnotch usually end up getting posts in politics. A similar case is that of Sen. Honasan. Baron of the class and endup up doing much in reforming the AFP, in his own way. In a simple explanation, the brightests but not so tough physically and emotionally become the armchair generals doing the plans, while the not so intelligent and not so smart but brave and fit to fight until the last breath goes to battle. Not a bad setup so to speak. It's how it must be. The problem there is that, the intelligent ones ends up ..... plundering the AFP funds while the brave ones are bleeding to death due to lack of equipment and medical care. That's the darkest part. |

I disagree...it does not mean that the brightest are the not so tough physically and emotionally...it just happens that when their orders where cut they just have to follow it. |

I can neither agree nor disagree because i'm too far away from knowing completely what the real status is. Actually, as they (those who are from the inside and not) always say; "most of those getting high positions became corrupt and greedy". They were once patriotic and selfless when they were still LTs braving the bullets and blasts in the field jobs. But after years of witnessing the abuse and misdeeds of their superiors and the politicians, and after having tasted the comfort of their own airconditioned offices in the big camps and all of what their lucious dirty money can afford them, they have now become part of the termites that are slowly bringing the whole house down. BUT THIS CAN NEVER THRIVE UNDER A GOVERNMENT THAT ISNT CORUPT, BECAUSE THEY KNOW EYES WITH ABLE CLAWS AND FANGS WILL GET THEM BUSTED. Under a corrupt one, it's all fiesta for those who have turned evil .... and the usual breed of greed in our politics. |

I don't know where your line of thinking is going...your thoughts are way off line. Or you just have to inject your ideas even if it doesn't make sense to what we are talking about. Haaay you just have to find a way to malign the AFP. Grow up man. Ang ganda ganda ng usapan eh...
