submarines are the best defensive weapon for countries with long coastlines. kahit diesel lang, ok na. the disadvantage of the limited range of submarines (conventional, non-nuclear) is mitigated by the great number of possible bases for these ships. Against a foreign aggressor, i'd put my money in diesel subs. Against the MILF/MNF, of course i'll go for 35knot patrol boats

For a Navy, Subs have been proven to be extremely versatile warships. Here are a few roles they have played: Attacking surface ships with torps and anti-ship missiles: Hunting and killing subs with torps Minelaying platform Recon vessel Special Operations Forces insertion, C&C and escape vehicle A diesel or 2 would be good enough But then, the PN would need to invest in training and infrastructure to support subs and train submariners |
