I can understand your point.

Of course, there are still men out there like Capt. Dilag and Sobejana, but the military couldnt hide the overwhelming number of bad eggs getting into the headlines every day.

The general perception of most troops and the public is that the top echelons except those you mentioned are part of the "colony of termites" eating up the the military's pillars.

That's what we are trying to defeat.

As for the tactics, i dont need to be there and get shot at just to understand. I have friends who personally recounted how messy the battle is.

Please pardon me for being rude or critical about your tactics.

The scores of dead frontline soldiers are too obvious now. Let's just do our our part by not putting it as if the current setup is okay. Siguro okay lang sa mga REMFs and those not doing combat assignment. Di naman sila ang namamatay eh.

So, let's all help save more lives.

By the way, with the improved firepower of the AFP, more rebels will instead opt to surrender and not confront the troops anymore.

Isn't that great to see them surrender instead of being EMBOLDENED TO CONFRONT THE TROOPS, BELIEVING THAT THEY CAN AND HAVE EVEN PROVEN THAT THEY CAN STILL SHOOT IT OUT WITH THEM?

Everybody is well aware about the sorry state of the AFP and we know that we can't fix it overnight, it may take years or decades to fix it. My suggestion is be objective in your criticisms so it would come out positively, also be tactful as we can't make a generalization. Be sensitive of the feeling of others specially those who are in the frontlines, they don't need more insults from any of us.

Let's have constructive discussions.

The criticisms were directed to the those up there who arent doing MUCH ENOUGH about the wrongdoings of their peers.

It is public knowledge that these people protect their peers no matter if they committed wrong.

Nonetheless, I can understand your side.

Rest assured that I believe that there are still lots of good guys and they outnumber them.

Unfortunately, these few are the ones still up there making evil grind on.

That's my goal. Defeat them or at least help the remaining good ones defeat them.

I agree! Do it objectively and avoid generalization, it would be unfair to those who are just doing their jobs :thumb:

I was waiting and expecting for a post to make mention of the ills INSIDE the Academy.

I, as a victim of those ills, find the nagging need to break my silence - to break the silence of generation after generation of hazed plebe.

But I have to restrain myself. I wish to be able to resolve the problems of the Academy as amicably as possible.

I will mainly cite the three-headed nemesis of PMA, which comes in the forms of BULLYING, DISHONOR, and MEDIOCRITY. The main problem is that this three-headed nemesis is deeply entrenched in Cadets' culture, which keeps them in a firm foothold.

I am in the hope that this three-headed nemesis will be vanquished and done away with, for the sake of the future generations of leaders and military officers this prestigious institution will yield.

Sir Scout,

I am sorry to hear about your experience in the Academy...I hope you are not generalizing the whole institution because of your encounters with a very few KUPALS.

Let me try to analyze the problems that you enumerated. Bullying: the Academy is a Military Institution where the traditions and practices are different from the civilian world. Democracy is not practiced in the Military but the Military is fighting for everyone's democracy. Quite ironic, huh? The bullying you mentioned might be misconstrued by many but it is way of removing the pride in every new Cadet or Recruit. Outside the Academy bullying is no longer in existent (aside from those really KUPALS) but of course RHIP is always there which is the Military way of bullying.

Dishonor: Now that is a capital offense inside the Academy and I know you are aware that no one tolerates it. If you witnessed an act of violating the honor Code and you didn't report it that means you are guilty as the doer for tolerating. If you did your part and reported the Honor violation then you helped in your own little way of weeding out the undesirables. Now, I assume you've witnessed a Dishonor act. What did you do if I may ask?

Mediocrity: I don't understand. Please elaborate further.

Plebehood is part of one's transformation from a civilian to a soldier, not just an oridinary soldier but an officer in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. During the plebe year, we can say that a person is being broken down as habits of a civilian is being taken out of the system. One has to endure physical and academic challenges in order to survive plebehood. To sum it up, it is the stage of on'e military career to separate the men from the boys.

If one doesn't want to be bullied or to be shouted, perform exercises, memorize poems and sayings that seem to be irrelevant, then don't go to PMA and perhaps choose another profession
