The worst thing? They involved in criminal activities like ILLEGAL LOGGING, GUNRUNNING and PLUNDER. They do thinsg that they themselves have sworn to fight off and defeat. Kaya nga magtatanung ka... PAPAANU MALULUNASAN ANG GERA SA MINDANAO EH PATI GERA NINEGOSYO NA NILA? They even kill their own like the case of Ensign Philip Pestano who uncovered an anomally. Nonetheless, i believe it isnt the PMA but the EVIL BREED OF SENIOR OFFICIALS who have insatiable greed for money. Dapat snayperin na lang ng mga young officers ang mga ayan. Sila ang puno't dulo ng lahat bakit bulok ang AFP. Hindi diyos ang mga hunghang na yan. Sisingilin din sila pag dumating ang takdang panahon. |

When a cadet enters the Academy, he/she enters an ideal world, that everything seems to be in black and white or right or wrong. There is discipline, structured organization and there is time for everything. Pero paglabas ng academy, malayo ang real world scenarios, some who can not adopt, umaalis na lang after the required time, others who stay, eventually become generals and yung iba, they try to change the world the way they were trained. About those involved in corruption, remember that power corrupts, sabi nga ni Spiderman, great powers come with great responsibilities. |

I beg to disagree Sir Jedi, it was Uncle Ben who said that and not Spiderman.

I agree that Power Corrupts...we are all vulnerable. What Uncle Ben said is true...with great power comes great responsibility. Power does not only corupt PMA Graduates, it also corrupts everyone else. The only sad thing about this thread is it is geared towards PMA Graduates and so all mistakes by them are scrutinized and the we are forgetting the bigger and more important picture. I admit there are Graduates who did stupid and unforgivable mistakes but they are just a teeny weeny percentage of the whole group. There are those who did excellent Service and Sacrifice e.g. the Valor Awardees. But we forget those who did more than these people who were never known in public, who never had the chance of having Media Exposure. The same people who still continue to work their Combat Boots to death just so that Flipzi and Warlord can keep their freedom to scrutinize and yak and yak to their hearts content. We all know that there is corruption in every institution and the AFP is not an exemption, but why would you mention it in almost every post you make. It willl never be fruitful unless you do something about it. in laymen's term: Reklamo ka ng reklamo wala ka namang ginagawa! Ok, you suggested: Dapat Isnayperin na lang ng mga young Officers ang mga Senior Officials. Dude, why don't you do it. You are telling people to kill others because you don't have the balls to do it. If you can't do it, then don't tell people to do it for you. If you make a suggestion then have the balls to do it. These people (PMA Graduates) are just a sub-group in a larger group, and guess what? You belong to that group - Filipinos. The mistakes made by Filipinos will also reflect on you, mocking and damning these people in a public forum just makes the whole Filipino race a laughing Stock by other foreign groups. Do your share. Yes, it is better to sometimes bring mistakes out in the open but for crying out loud don't be like a broken record. P.S. Flipzi, you do not know the details of ENS PESTANO's case so don't ever put that as an example if all information you have is from the news. |

Agree, and I always maintain that its really unfair to generalize. We always look at the likes of Gen. Garcia and Gen. Ligot for the things they allegedly did. We look at faces of Gen. Danny Lim and Col. Ariel Querubin also for the things that they allegedly did. I am not in a position to say whether they are guilty or not, if they are right or wrong as I would rather let history be the judge. What I can confidently say is that there are still a lot of nameless and faceless Cavaliers doing some sacrifices so I can post messages in this site and enjoy dinner with my kids and family. |

I was waiting and expecting for a post to make mention of the ills INSIDE the Academy. I, as a victim of those ills, find the nagging need to break my silence - to break the silence of generation after generation of hazed plebe. But I have to restrain myself. I wish to be able to resolve the problems of the Academy as amicably as possible. I will mainly cite the three-headed nemesis of PMA, which comes in the forms of BULLYING, DISHONOR, and MEDIOCRITY. The main problem is that this three-headed nemesis is deeply entrenched in Cadets' culture, which keeps them in a firm foothold. I am in the hope that this three-headed nemesis will be vanquished and done away with, for the sake of the future generations of leaders and military officers this prestigious institution will yield. |

One of which is hazing. One Senator, a former Marine Commandant and AFP Chief, at one time in his visit to teh prestigious school, ordered a cadet to bow and then he hit the poor guys head hard as if it's fun doing it. Sabi nga kung kadete .. "sarap patayin ng gagung yun ah". Treating them like idiots indeed turns them to be just like that. Kaya ayun nung umuwi, nasabi sa Nanay, "Nanay, yayaman tayo sa Navy. Dami pala pera sa Navy eh". YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT IT, SCOUT. Psychological conditioning kasi yung tatlo na nabanggit mo. PMA, please take it from there. Kung gusto niyo maging matino mindset ng mga produkto ng PMA ay dapat hubugin niyo sa maayos at malinis na paraan. Hindi yung hinahaluan niyo ng kagaguhan. |

Did you witnessed the incident or from a third party? The CCAFP has their own traditions that we are not familiar with, minsan tinapik lang pag dating sa kwento tinadyakan na, unless you personally witnessed the incident and understood what what really happened then IMHO, you have no right to judge.
Being an ----- is a mindest, if a person feels he is an -----, acted like an -----, then he is an -----, and he doesn't deserve to be in the academy! I don't think may role ang Academy dun sa mindset ng tao.
As if all Academy graduates are GAGO, try to look for Col. Uldarico Baclagon, PMA '40 if he still alive, baka maiyak ka sa kalagayan nya. Try to know Col. Alexander Balutan PMA '84, and live with his family sa Bonifacio, baka hindi kayo magkasya sa quarters nya. We can not deny na meron mga Academy graduates who are rotten eggs, pero parang hindi mo yata matanggap na meron din mga cavaliers who are true officers and gentlemen. You always have the impression kasi na lahat ng kadete pag enter sa service magpapayaman, but did you check you data? Not all those who enter the Academy are from poor families, some are in the middle class and even some are in the upper echelon of society. Take the case of our neighbor before, he was a member of Class '83, yet his family owns a drugstore and several properties in our town. He can definitely afford life's comfort. And please, check you facts first before crucifying anybody, otherwise, you're another Pilate. One more thing, also check the facts you're citing in arguing your case when it comes to tactics and strategy, maybe it's being read and monitored by a recepient of the Medal of Valor, a Gold Cross awardee and Wounded Personnel Medal recepients. And as far as I'm concern, these warriors are more credible than you are, unless you can prove that you've been there. |
