http://www.brudirect.com/DailyInfo/News/Ar...0907/nite07.htm Bandar Seri Begawan - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Philippine Navy (PN) are conducting a combined bilateral exercise dubbed SEAGULL 03/2007. Held at different training sites in the country, the exercise kicked off on September 2 and will officially end today. The PN contingent is headed by its Exercise Director Commodore Feliciano A Angue, while the Brunei contingent is headed by Col (L) Dato Paduka Hj Joharie bin Hj Matussin. The exercise consisted of two phases, the Harbor Phase and Sea phase. The exercise was held to enhance interoperability on combined naval operations, including skills directly applicable to the combat of sea-borne terrorism threats and transitional crimes at sea. PN assets that were seen in action were the BRP Rizal PS 74 and BRP Federico Martir PG 385, while RBN participating ships included KDB Pejuang P03, KDB Seteria PO4, KDB Perwira P14 and KDB Penyerang P16. Approximately 100 Philippine sailors, one Naval Special Operations Unit (NAVSOU) team and 120 RBN personnel participated in the exercise. The series of drills that were the highlights of this exercise were the Mine Clearance, Under Water Operations, Replenishment at Sea, Night Encounter Exercise, Boarding Exercise and Other Naval Tactical Exercises. The SEAGULL exercise is held every other year, with the last one held in Cebu and Palawan. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin

The PN's BRP Martir is a fast patrol craft of the Andrada-class: http://www.hueybravo.net/NavyPages/jose_andrada.htm while Brunei's KDB Pejuang is a Waspada class missile boat built in Singapore http://freespace.virgin.net/metcalf.mouldings/waspada.htm |
