While yes, it would be nice if we did cut military spending in favor of more important expenditures like healthcare, food security and quality education.
Unfortunately, hunger increased according to recent polls, our government hospitals below par and part of my salary still goes to an HMO to supplement my Philhealth and we have a perennial shortage of classrooms, textbooks (which are laden with errors) and teachers.

And most of our GNP goes into Pork Barrel, Debt Servicing and covert political expenses

We're far better off than communist countries, Sir Tora. Our transportation system is efficient. Almost a third of our citizens can afford private transportation. Philippine capitalist democracy bars any alternative and the best thing for us to do is to improve the economy and put a stop on communist insurgency which has been sapping our hard-earned progress and development. In Vietnam and in China, 98 percent of the people are on bicycles, hindering economic growth and development. The only sector which is as improved as ours is the agricultural sector. All things considered, we're a utopia. Why would Vietnamese brave shark infested waters and risk their lives just to reach the Bataan refuggee zone?

LOL. China now has evolve. It now has more automobile users than the US.
As for Vietnam. They are attracting more foreign investments than us. One day
we will wake up finding Vietnam richer than us.

A good example is Thailand. A few years back, the RP currency was a lot better than theirs but now its the reverse, and like a footrace, they are fast pulling away. Like what I have reinterated in previous threads is that the modernization of the AFP will always start with the purging of the RP government of corrupt officials then everything will domino down to all its branches including the AFP.

Speaking of Thailand and Vietnam below is a breakdown of their Airforce:

Malayong malayo na talaga.

One reason we must invest more in the AFP, these rebels torch cellsites and farms that dont pay Revolutionary Taxes... With the damage these rebs are doing, envestors will just be afraid to invest in our country and those who are in the country might pack up and leave, and our kababayans will go with out jobs.

No rebels, NPAs or MILF, ASG & RSG = prosperity and wealth!

:fire: the rebels!

Would be nice if the GRP would spend more on defence... and keep the same budget for the rest.

Ya that would be nice indeed but we need to change alot of things first
"No sacrifice is too great in the service of freedom."

“As long as we are not willing to provide an adequate, suitable and capable defense for this country, we will be oppressed, demeaned and dishonored. We will be the stepping mat of every country in this region,”(Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile)

“Just because we are a very weak country militarily, we should not be taken advantage of by more powerful countries" (Senate committee on national defense and security chairman Panfilo Lacson)

True, just sad that our grandparents and parents in their youth saw Independence day parades with M-41s, shermans and lots of mustangs in the air along with more than 20 F-86F Sabers and F-86DSuper Sabers in the air.

I wish we could enjoy the view of modern , good quantity and quality hardware paraded every Independence Day :armysad:

A Squadrons of F-16s and Grippens flying over head with a brigade size armored unit parade their Scorpion 2000 [armed with 90mm gun, better with a low recoil 105mm] , Marder IFVs / M-113 with RCWS or 25mm gun [turrets on LAV-25s] with the troops marching armed with Tavors / Famas G.2

Wouldn't this view restore pride among our people?

Medyo realistic muna approach ko on this. On hold muna yun high-cost suggestions as malabo naman i-fund naman ng mga officials natin even if there's a good deal out there. At sayang rin naman kung magamit sa isang kudeta ang mga pangarap natin na MRFs and such.

Currently, no word na dun sa mga surplus Bo105s ng Germany at Netherlands. Making kulit our officials to follow up on this (as yun bago kong contact sa Navy no response na lately). Also, focus ko on answering the medical need para hindi naman matira sa global scene as another war freak buy. So helicopters and transports muna next step once the idea for the armored ambulances plus support gets past the front door.

Maliit man magawa ng pagkukulit but maybe it would be the start again for our PAF to one day be a respected force in the region.
Command is about authority, about appointment to a position. Effective leadership is different. It must be learned and practiced in order for it to rise to the level of art. You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment but you cannot lead without it; and without leadership, command is a hollow experience. .. a vacuum often filled with mistrust and ignorance.
