FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City -- For the third time in 10 years, the valedictorian of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) graduating class is a woman.

Cadet 1st Class Andrelee Mojica of Indang, Cavite, topped the 282-member PMA Maragtas Class of 2007.

"It is an honor to represent the women of our country," said Mojica, 23, who will join the Philippine Navy after her graduation on March 19.

Two other women joined the top 10 graduates of the class. They are Cadet 1st Class Gemilyn Mendoza, who placed fifth, and Cadet 1st Class Judyline Canoneo, sixth.

Mojica is the third woman to graduate as valedictorian since 1997, after Arlene de la Cruz of Class 1999 and Tara Velasco of Class 2003.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will address the graduating class on March 19.

You're tough lady, you know. Even though I carry conservative beliefs I happen to support the feminist movement, call it unchristian. Saludo ako sa iyo, Ma'm Mojica. Die with your secrets inside you whom I prefer to be in ISAPF due to your superior intelligence. :armyLol:

I still remember back in 1994, we were the 2nd (Group XI-B PMACCLG) to the last batch of medical examinees for PMA Class 1998 eto yung time na nagsisimula palang ang acceptance ng PMA of female cadets. We have 5 female members in our group, time then was different I remember the whole group voted who is our 1-5. The number 1 lady was from UP, the 2nd was a Manila lass, the 3rd graduated with PMA'98, the 4th was from Visaya and the 5th she really cried when she saw the vote.

I did not meet PMA standards due to my vision but in our group 3 Male + 1 Female graduated. These are the memories I will never forget.

Arrogant Army lieutenant in Bicol faces stack of suits
by Rhaydz B. Barcia

LEGAZPI CITY: An abusive Army lieutenant who heads the disaster response platoon unit of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division Bicol was under fire and relieved from his post for conduct of unbecoming and raiding the police station in this city.

Army first Lt. Juniedy Oman-dam, a graduate of Philippine Military Academy batch 2007 faces multiple suits before the local court here. Omandam was assigned at Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur but was sent to Albay as head of Army’s disaster resaponse team.

Omandam was asked by national police personnel at Community Police Assistance Center 2 (CPAC 2) for questioning after he was complained of acts of lasciviousness and harassment near Chick n Bar by a certain Melan, 21, of Kimantong Daraga town
and and Joy, 25, of Putiao, Pilar Sorsogon.

Omandam accompanied by 16 persons mostly wearing orange t-shirts, according to a police report, was invited by responding policemen to explain his side at the police station. Instead he confronted the policemen and broke a bottle of beer in front of the policemen before boarding a black Toyota Innova (ZDF-136) with several other companions.
Omandam returned with his men in full battle gear.

Police report said three 6x6 military trucks and one canter truck with about 60 personnel in full battle gear arrived at the vicinity of CPAC 2.

According to the police blotter, Omandam forced their way inside the police station and at gun point told the desk officer, “Nobody moves,” and ordered his men “Kill anyone who moves.”

The blotter said Omandam leveled his M16 rifle and threatened to shoot complainant Joy who fainted.

Army Maj. Angelo Guzman, regional spokesman of the Army’s 91st Infantry Division said that Omandam has been relieved from his post as platoon leader of the 91D disaster response platoon and is confined inside the camp pending the investigation.

Omandam is facing several cases—acts of lasciviousness, unjust vexation and grave threats.

“The 9lD does not tolerate such misconduct and will abide the rule of law. The command will cooperate with the PNP on the investigation. He is restricted inside the camp for investigation,” Guzman told The Manila Times.

Omandam has been booted out from his previous assignment in the island province of Catanduanes for his conduct of unbecoming officer and for being uncouth.
