Dewey, the Chinese are akin to BASF. "They don't make the products you buy..they make them better". The Chinese will indeed copy other nations weapons systems but they routinely modify them for various reasons. When you modify a weapon system from the original version, the specs change. If specs change, your tactics will need to change. In the past the Chinese used to make shitty copies. Now, it seems that they are improving on the original designs which makes it incumbent to test those new modifications. You would be a fool to not run one or two items through a testing process. If you assume that something will work exactly the same as what the Chinese copied it from you will do a disservice to your troops. You could expose your troops to an unnecessary risk or fail to exploit a weakness that did not exist before. |

the chinese will be like the japanese. after WWII, the japanese copied everything and of poor quality, I was in grade school when we still laugh at japanese made products, but now its totally different. Japanese products are one of the best in the world from automotive, electronics, computers, machine tools, trucks, almost anything they made are of good quality. The difference with the China is, it is against the Japanese constitution to return to militarism, otherwise they can go back as a military superpower again, in which China is heading. Yes Chinese products with all the copying they make are improving and will be superior in the future just like Japanese goods. We can laugh now at Chinese products but be prepared and not be shock in near future in the quality of their products. Right now the Chinese AK type 56, is considered superior quality. |

IMHO, the chinese copied those weapon because they see it as a superior kind. i dont think they just copy for the heck of it. improving it? i dont really think so. they merely replaced some of the items (electronics esp) which they back-engineered and branded it as their own. they could always tweak it for their purpose. not really improving it, in a high tech sense, but improving it in a sense that they can integrate whatever they have in their inventory. that is if they can. but of course the bottom line here is they have to change it somehow or they will surely be sued

The Chinese have already proven time and time again tat they don't really give a crap about being sued. Regardless of the change that is made, either ourselves or our allies need a copy of whatever it is for testing purposes. At the very least get a copy of the modified component, install it in the existing device and then test it yet again. You have to stay on top of your adversaries technology. You cannot afford to be complacent when dealing with a potential threat. When a nations leadership assumes that they are the best and does not take an adversary serious enough they set themselves up for a hard fall. Hubris is a bitch. This hubris is what is plaguing the usa at the moment. Some of them are starting to "see the light" but too many other americans still suffer from the idea that "america is number one" and that no one can hurt them. BTW, examining the modified component will also give you some insight as to the progress of their technology and manufacturing capabilities. |

China donates law enforcement equipment to Philippines Home Updated December 13, 2011 04:11 PM 5 comments to this post MANILA (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government donated two million yuan (314,200 U.S. dollars) worth of law enforcement equipment to the Philippine government to help in its effort to combat crime and improve security. In a turnover ceremony held Tuesday, China's Ambassador to the Philippines Liu Jianchao said the equipment, which was donated to the Philippine justice department, is in line with the existing bilateral cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of two countries. "We should have every reason to believe that the future cooperation between our two countries on combating transnational crimes will continue with strength and depth and reap even more rich fruits in the days to come," he said. Philippine Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said the donated equipment will not only enhance the country's law enforcement efforts but also improve the security provided to state witnesses. "I am glad to note that our common aspiration for peace and order and the attainment of progress in our region has resulted in cooperative efforts that had made significant progress," she said. For the last six years, both the Philippines and China have appointed respective Police Liaison Officers in their respective embassies in Manila and Beijing. The two East Asian countries launched close joint efforts in combating crimes. http://www.philstar.com/nation/article.asp...rticleid=758052 |

IMHO, chinese weapons has a long way to go if they are to be compared to the superpowers. they could be in the future, but not now. tingnan nyo na lang yung aircraft carrier nila, they are making a big fuss out of it. in fact its just an old soviet carrier. other countries has their own carriers but dont give sh@t about it. they are not even considered superpowers. this is a fact, the US and other superpowers are head and shoulders above everyone else, weapons wise. for now anyway. if a war is going to break out, i dont see the chinese giving much of a fight. they may inflict some damage but it will be a TKO. that is why the chinese government is protesting the interference of the US and other allied countries fom the dispute because they know very well that they dont stand a chance. they can bully everyone else in asia if there is no interference from the superpowers but i dont think they they can have it their way!
