Just popped in my mind and curious to know...in the future should the Philippines have the technology to build planes of her own just wanted to know what we are going to call them? The US uses bird, cat names, etc. It will be curious to know what the PAF will call them? How about Aswang "Flying Vampire" for a future fighter plane? Your thoughts and inputs?

Under the presidency of Ernie Baron the following air program was developed: Our premier fighter would be the "Mananangal" fighter....though not completely stealthy in the radar scope it shows only "half" of its radar signature. armaments is it's "White lady" air to air missile and air-to-ground ordinance are the "Tyanak" laser guided missiles, "Duende" runway bombs, and the "Kapre" munitions dispenser for "karpet" bombing. The joint Sarao and Melford aeronautics developed the "Tikbalang" supersonic bomber. capable of mach 4.2 and a payload of 3000 tons of bombs and munitions. It has two newly developed "Aswang" turbo jet engines developed by Danao with a thrust of 5000 "Horse" power. Air support are provided by the "Aswang" attack helicopter with Notar. Main armaments are the 50 mm. "Maligno" gatling gun and the highly accurate "Lamang-Lupa" rockets, and the "Punso" anti-tank laser guided missile. The PAF recently is testing the "Multo" cruise missile that could carry conventional warheads or thermonuclear. |

When I was in College, I had my little own Jet Fighter Design. I named it "Mantis" , this was how I was introduced to the PASF [Philippine Aerospace & Sciences , Foundation Inc - of Captain Villaruel]. My "Mantis" shares the same Aerodynamics as the F-22 [only difference is it has a V-Tail configuration, like the F-23]. During my bumbing days, I made a scaled down version of my Mantis and called it "Gurion" or Kite in Tagalog. Years later Gurion is still a sketch... When I get to have it rendered, Ill post it here. "Uwak" would be a cool name for a dedicated Interceptor, if we ever get to build one. Uwak is Tagalog for Raven or Crow... |
