Posts: 8,219 Group: Elite Member #5,752 Joined: September 18, 2009	An Israeli missile on European helicopters December 27, 2014 Rafael has teamed with Airbus Helicopters and Agusta Westland and they are now offering the Israeli company�s Spike missiles as an integral part of the weapon system carried by their helicopters. Agusta Westland is currently offering its AW 159 helicopter armed with the Rafael Spike NLOS missile. This helicopter was purchased by South Korea and the Israeli missile is its main weapon system The missile is also carried by the Airbus Helicopters Tiger that are used by the Spanish army. The Colombian army�s Arpia-4 (Blackhawk) is armed with all the members of the Spike family � the ER, LR and NLOS. A Rafael source said that currently the Airbus Helicopters AS-550 Fennec is being offered with the Spike missiles. i-HLS Quote: Rafael has recently tested the upgraded capabilities of its Spike missile, with the main activity having increased the range of the NLOS version to 16.2nm (30km), from 13.5nm. The company has also tested the system with a laser guidance modification. The NLOS round is carried by Israeli air force Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopters. Flight International The Spike NLOS has both an automatic and manual mode of operation. Whereas the manual mode means that the operator can fire directly at a target, the automatic mode sees the missile fly to a pre-determined waypoint approximately 3km from the target before handing manual control back to the operator for the final attack phase. ... All variants of the Spike feature either a fragmentation; high explosive anti-tank (HEAT); or penetration, blast and fragmentation (PBF) warhead depending on the nature of the target.
