He was bit unlucky for getting across tough weirdos. He miscalculated the situation believing that his knife would scare them off. However, he was very lucky that the guys left a little bit of breath for him to face justice.

PUP student grabs robber's gun, foils jeepney heist
By Aie Balagtas See (philstar.com) | Updated March 23, 2013 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines - It was like David versus Goliath in Caloocan City on Friday when an 18-year-old student foiled a jeepney robbery by grabbing the gun of a robber.

"I did it because of Adrenalin rush," said Jonathan Tacorda, 18, in an interview with the STAR.

Inspector Edsel Ibasco, chief investigator of the Northern Police District (NPD), said that Tacorda, a student of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, was texting inside a Navotas-bound jeepney going to his classmate's house when suspect Emerson Camba, 32, boarded the vehicle on 4th Avenue and sat in front of him about 10 a.m..

Tacorda continued to use his Samsung Pocket cellular phone despite Camba's presence, saying he was "unaware" of the suspect's intention.

"After 10 minutes, (Camba) told the jeepney driver to stop the vehicle and declared a heist. Camba grabbed my bag, aimed his gun at me and said: 'This is a hold up. Give me your cellular phone.'" Tacorda recalled in his statement

Tacorda refused to give up his phone and grabbed Camba's gun through its barrel instead. Camba, who was drunk, pulled Tacorda out of the vehicle until they fell on the street.

The robber tried to pull the trigger but his face towel got stuck in his .38 caliber revolver - causing the gun to jam while enabling Tacorda to grab his arms.

When the student successfully grabbed the gun, Camba ran away and tripped over. Concerned citizens approached the suspect and beat him. Fireman Aldfredo Fernandez saw the commotion and arrested Camba.

At the police station, cops advised Tacorda in jest: "Don't text in public."

Police Officer 1 Richard Canlas of NPD's investigation unit said Camba was charged with frustrated robbery because the act "was not consummated," illegal possession of firearms, and violation of the Commission on Elections Omnibus Election Code.

Lucky kid that his guardian angel was around. If not, another mother and father would have lost a son.

Calling card scandal: Police official to file charges vs. Alyzza Agustin

Police Chief Superintendent Alexander Ignacio says the incident has caused great distress to his family, especially his ailing mother.

"My family, including my ailing mother, is badly affected by this scandal, and so I request for private moments with my family while the lawyers are preparing the documents for the formal filing of charges against the model Alyzza Agustin."

This was the statement given by Police Chief Superintendent Alexander Ignacio upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Friday afternoon. He also added: "I am not a womanizer."

Ignacio, on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ 912, arrived from Malaysia at around 3:30 p.m. He represented the Philippine National Police (PNP) at the ASEAN Police Conference.

Ignacio requested that his photo not be published to avoid further bashing from netizens. He said people have already erroneously jumped to the conclusion that he is a womanizer following the "calling card scandal."

Agustin, who stirred controversy on social media after she posted on Facebook that she used the cop’s business card to avoid getting a traffic citation.

Wrong victim: 2 holduppers shot in the legs for trying to rob off-duty cop

Posted on September 3, 2015 by Ron E.J. Carleon

Quote:

The foiled robbery attempt took place in Alabang viaduct around 1:00 am when Inspector Bob Belver, 53, of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Pangasinan, who had just gotten off a bus, was approached by four men.

Quote:

Belver said he tried to warn the robbers by identifying himself as a police officer but was only mocked by one of the men who told him: “Walang pulis pulis sa amin!” (We don’t care if you’re a cop!)

Instead of returning the bag, one of the suspects allegedly tried to stab Belver with a knife but he managed to deflect the attack, pulled out his service firearm and shot at the criminals who were trying to flee.
