First I wasnt sure it was a predator but one of the earlier models. As to who owns it is a guess at this point. We do have two Predator UAVs in the Philippine Civil Registry. Registered to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Office of the President. It could be Philippine registered but US operated (ie in our behalf). |

Right...The one in the picture may not be but there are still two UAVs in the Philippine register, registered to the Office of the National Security Adviser. |

If I could remember, there were so many models being tested here. Some even crashing down on rooftops of malls, etc. At the same time, U.S. Forces too are using them and evaluating these for similar applications on terrains like ours and are learning from it. Possibly those 2 that were acquired were part of the those demo/used units. Successful or not, were sold at a bargain to us rather than bringing them home with additional transportation cost for the manufacturers. |
