Reducing the types of aircrafts the PAF has

IMO, to make our PAF more streamlined, cost effective, and efficient, I think we should reduce our ideas for new aircrafts to the following types:

1 type of MRF
1 type of MPA
2 types of Cargo aircrafts (Heavy lift like C-130s, and medium lift like Fokker series)
1 type of attack helicopter (like an AH-1)
2 types of utility helicopter (Heavy lift like CH-47s and medium lift like Hueys)

Having less types of aircrafts will make maintenance easier since our crews would have to train on only a few types, and most of all it would make it cheaper since we would only maintain small amount of spare parts and training costs would be cheaper too. Having multiple types of aircrafts not only would increase operational costs, but the expertise of our crews and pilots would be lower because they would have to master a lot of different types.

actually, we can really streamline some sectors of the PAF but there are certain areas where we cannot do streamlining, in my honest opinion. these areas are:

* rotary-wing transport capability, where the PAF should operate three types of utility helicopters: (1) light-to-medium lift helicopters such as the UH-1H Huey, Bell 412EP LUH and AW139 LUH; (2) twin-engined medium-lift helicopters for commando operations such as the UH-60A/L Blackhawk; and (3) heavylift helicopters such the CH-47D Chinook; and

* fixed-wing transport capability, where the PAF needs to have three types of fixed-wing transports- (1) small fixed-wing transports to replace the N-22 Nomad such as C-212 Aviocar and the M28 Skytruck; (2) medium-sized fixed-wing transports to replace the Fokker F-27 Fellowship such as the CN-235 or upgraded Fokker 50s; and (3) heavylift fixed-wing transports such as the C-130 Hercules. this is due to the variable types of airports, air bases and airfields in this country that can support only a single type of aircraft among the three.

* rotary-wing attack aircraft platforms, which will include, maybe, 18 upgraded AH-1F Cobras and 36 upgraded and newly-built MD520MG Defenders that will serve as "scouts" for the Cobras and secondary attack platforms.

* training aircraft platforms, which will require a different set of trainer planes for primary training, basic jet training, advanced jet training and lead-in fighter training of PAF pilots.

I think due to economical constraints, Philippines can practice the way of leasing. In the forces dun buy the plane but rent them from private firms. For example if I'm not wrong, Malaysia is leasing the EC-120 helicopter from a private firm to perform helicopter training.

Streamlining the PAF is a great idea. But the complete overhaul of PAF is necessary for it to be relevant. BSa overhauling ng PAF kasunod na streamlining dun.

We should not only streamline the types of aircraft but also the units in the PAF. Aside from the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing, we should also downscale the 740th and 750th Combat Groups.

Their role may be pivotal in the current COIN campaign and in the defense of NCR against coup attempts. They even played a big role in the capture of fugitive 1st Lt. Lawrence San Juan. However, Infantrymen in PAF BDA in large formations and doing jobs meant for the Army, Marines and the PNP is a redundance and a waste in resources better spent elsewhere like in bringing more Helicopters and COIN planes back to operational status.

Add that to the list too! :agree:

Eurocopter to deliver 12 BO 105 helicopters to the Albanian Defense Ministry

With aid from the German Government, the Albanian Defense Ministry and Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH have recently signed a contract for the delivery of 12 modernized BO105 helicopters. The 10 million euro contract will be spread over a period of 3 years.

The helicopters are a gift from the German Government to the Albanian Government. They will be modernized in the Donauworth plant and be converted into the BO105 E 4 version, whose performances are close to those of the civil CB-4 version.

The conversion of other BO105M VBH helicopters from the German Armed Forces is also under consideration with a view to future sales.

Thats great insight from possible since with common engines, they will have common spare parts and the crew would be well versed in maintenance of multiple aircrafts.

Sounds like the GE T700/CT7 looks like the winner for choppers, since AH-1W/Z and UH-1Ys are compatible (or go for a less upgraded AH-1S and Huey II with a Honeywell T53 engine.

While the MPA and heavy transport aircraft would be the P3 Orion and C130 Hercules with both using the Allison T56 engine.
