No Offense to any PAF guys here, but the higher authority should be adamant in demanding that those retired officers leave and find their own housing. Besides they're using up RP taxpayers' money since those retired officers' homes' utility bills are still being shouldered by the PAF. THEY SHOULD GROW SOME BALLS AND THROW THEM OUT! SIMPLE LANG! |

Simple solution is not to release their retirement benefits if they will not turn-over gov't property as part of their clearances. |

Perhaps, the DND should make use of profits from RSBS investments to develop a subdividion for retired officers and enlisteds. That way, they won't have to squat in space for active duty personnel. |

Housing facilities for those in the service and since they have GSIS and PAG-IBIG contributions, get housing loans. And when they retired they have their own houses and can then turn-over those facilities they are using while in service. Just like any Filipino workers and citizens, both in gov't and private companies. |

Opening of Fernando Air Base for civilian use ordered President Arroyo has ordered the opening of Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas, for joint military and civilian use, according to Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Lilia B. de Lima. De Lima made the disclosure at a recent hearing of the House Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization, chaired by Congressman Eladio Jala. De Lima said the President has anticipated the traffic problem that the coming South Luzon Expressway repair will bring about. "Thousands of container vans from the industrial locators in the region will be affected by the Alabang viaduct repair in the SLEX. She, therefore, asked Trade and Industry Secretary Peter B. Favila and National Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz to facilitate immediately the requirements for the MOA signing with the PAF for the civilian use of the air base facility at night when not in use by the military," de Lima said. The President’s directive dovetails with House Bill 5469, introduced by Rep. Hermilando I. Mandanas of Batangas for the redevelopment of Fernando Air base for joint civilian-military use, at no expense to the government. The bill calls for the creation of the Calabarzon International Airport Corp. and a free-trade zone in the adjoining areas. "The objective is to convert the air base into a dual-use airport serving the Southern Tagalog Region, and functioning as subsidiary airport to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and to develop the area contiguous to base into a dynamic zone through private-sector initiative," Mandanas said. He said the PAF will be a direct beneficiary of the redevelopment. "The present area used by PAF will not be diminished by even one square meter," Mandanas said. He said that Southern Tagalog needs to enhance its transportation network, including air transportation. This underscores the need for developing an airport to service the region and decongest NAIA. De Lima expressed her support for the bill, which she said will make the companies in the region more efficient by reducing turn-around time by four to six hours. She also believes that a free-trade zone will accelerate economic development in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and will create more jobs. Representative Jala organized a technical working group, headed by Mandanas, to fasttrack approval of the bill. Representatives from the PAF, PEZA, Office of the Government Corporate Counsel, the Department of Transportation and Communication, Air Transportation Office, Civil Aeronautic Board, Manila International Airport Authority, National Economic and Development Authority and the Department of Finance will be invited as members of the working group. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=41207 |

Apparently it's part of a widescale dry-run among bases in the Metro Manila like The Fort, PN HQ, and yes, AFP GHQ. Similar drills are also taking place in other installations in NCR especially with that massive prayer rally this Sunday. With Civil Society. Religious groups, the Legit Opposition (Erap's camp) and the Semi-Legit Opposition (groups with alleged Left Leanings like BAYAN) back in action after that attempted Blitzkrieg by de Venecia to impose changes on the Constitution by Constituent Assembly or forcing the Senate to call for a Con Con, The Palace fears things could eventually escalate to an EDSA 4 or worse, another Coup which is why they are quick to test the defenses of their major bases here in the NCR which are likely targets for take-over. ![]() I wonder though, if there similar drills in Camp O`Donnell (where the Light Armored Div is based) and Atienza (where bulk of the Nation's airpower, the 15th Strike Wing roosts) since they have assets that could prove useful in a coup. It seems that the generals won't be biting to the Bishops' invite to attend. It's either thay are playing the Military Professionalism card or they fear reprisals for going against the leadership. Apparently, the Generals would have a lot to lose in a regime change where GMA would be booted out. However, we would have to say what the Junior Officers would have to say. |

Air Force bases in the country![]() The govt's goal in eliminating rebellion can't be realized without the improving the air support that our ground troops can rely upon. The augmention of our air assets require us to provide a strategic base for these as well. With these, i suggest we consider these: 1) Setting up of a new air base in Butuan to protect Northern and Western Mindanao. Agusan and Compostella Valley are areas where the rebels, both MILF/MNLF/ASG and the NPA, are concentrated. The base should at least house 6 MD520s and 2 Cobras. Plus a set of fixed-wing attack aircraft like the Bronco and the SF260. 8 Hueys are needed for troop transport. APCs and tanks are needed for base security. 2) We also need to set up a new base in Naga to provide the air support for our troops there. The same number of attack choppers and Hueys are needed for thsi base. 3) We also need to upgrade our base in Cauayan. The same number of attack choppers and Hueys as with Butuan are needed here. 4) We also need to either setup a new air base in Ilocos Norte. The same number of attach choppers and Hueys are needed there. Summary: This is a very meager allocation. This may not be enough. 1) Ilocos Norte: (upgrade or new base) - squadron of MRFs - 4 MD520 Defenders - 2 Cobras (Sidewinder & Hellfire missile firing variants) - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) 2) Cauayan: (upgrade) - 4 MD520 Defenders - 2 Cobras - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) 3) Basa - squadron of MRFs - 6 OV10 Broncos - 6 AS211 - 6 SF260 (attack variants) 4) Clark - 2 Maritime patrol aircrafts - 3 heavy lift transport aircraft - 4 medium lift transport aircraft - 8 Hueys 5) Villamor - 2 Cobras (Sidewinder & Hellfire missile firing variants) - 4 Hueys - presidential airlift wing assets - 2 SAR 6) Atienza - Naval Air Group assets 7) Fernando - squadron of MRFs - training wing assets - 4 MD520 Defenders - 8 Hueys 8) Naga (new base) - 4 MD520 Defenders - 2 Cobras - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) - 2 Maritime patrol aircrafts 9) Roxas City (new base) - 4 MD520 Defenders - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) 10) Cebu - squadron of MRFs - 2 Cobras - 4 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) 10) Tacloban - 4 MD520 - 8 Hueys 11) Palawan - squadron of MRFs - 4 Cobras (Sidewinder & Hellfire missile firing variants) - 6 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) - 2 Maritime patrol aircrafts 12) Butuan (new base) - squadron of MRFs - 2 Cobras - 4 MD520 - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) - 3 heavy lift transport aircraft - 4 medium lift transport aircraft 13) Raja Buayan - squadron of MRFs - 2 Cobras - 4 MD520 - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) - 2 Maritime patrol aircrafts 14) Edwin Adrews - squadron of MRFs - 2 Cobras (Sidewinder & Hellfire missile firing variants) - 4 MD520 - 8 Hueys - 2 SAR choppers (manned by well-trained men from 505th SARG) TOTAL NUMBER OF ASSETS: MRF / Strike-Fighter Aircraft = 48 Cobra attack helicopter = 20 MD520 scout/attack chopper = 36 Huey transport = 90 SAR choppers = 20 Maritime Patrol = 8 heavy lift transport aircraft = 6 medium lift transport aircraft = 8 BASE DEFENSE: - tanks - APCs with machineguns - sniper rifles with NV scopes - NVG |

Flipzi have you noticed the bases alignment in our country? Try to examine bases installation in the country. Particularly in Mindanao, isnt Luzon is already to much crowded in the base presence of the PAF. Are they in need to expand their base or implement a re-alignment program for bases. Mindanao in particular, right? Take note the presence of Reds in the Region 10 and Region 13 isnt it obvious that the year 2006 blogs the insurgency problems in this area? More reported cases of encounter and Neps bunker in the said Areas.right? If we can start a new base in the area of Butuan or Surigao area. This will lessen the time of troop insertion problems in which more often in the news are in need of an air asset to find their objectives. Most of the cases in this area also were most of the Reds escaped because of the unavailability of an air asset to assist their operations. Am i right sir? This are what the news of 2006 indicated mostly. |
