Are they capable of carrying and dropping bombs such as the 500lbs laser/GPS guided bunker buster? It seems that they are mere launcher of rockets and missiles. Just asking! |

I don't think attack helicopters or gunships do bombs. I heard some Hueys could be outfitted with a DIY mod to carry and release drums loaded with jellied something to produce a napalm bomb. Bombing is more likely the province of airplanes unless one designs a rotary winged aircraft to something like a compound helicopter. I read that the Hind does rolling take offs and couldn't hover (the old original ones) but no idea if they do dumb bombs. Maybe some of those laser guided things could be carried since its design is derived from a heavy lift helicopter. With a Skycrane we could probably do an ALCM launch but that could be better done by a C-130 since it has a higher speed and longer range. |

Command is about authority, about appointment to a position. Effective leadership is different. It must be learned and practiced in order for it to rise to the level of art. You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment but you cannot lead without it; and without leadership, command is a hollow experience. .. a vacuum often filled with mistrust and ignorance. The Hinds used to dropped mines and I believe so were some U.S. Choppers during Vietnam, some even uses grenades and mortar rounds. But laser guided bombs in this time, they would just let the Fighters do that or even UAVs. |
