And if I were to redesign the Defiant and Cali I would first begin on what the AFP now requires and could afford. A UCAV. I would base it on that asymetric plane the Germans made in the past and use it too as a study subject if it is possible to adapt it for the new Defiant. And in the meantime, computer studies will be done on the improved Defiant and Cali. And more so on the simulators for the said too. We should not only concentrate on the actual products themselves but also how to help improve the training. And we could market too these simulators or start a school like what the Canadians did using the Super Tucano. |

Command is about authority, about appointment to a position. Effective leadership is different. It must be learned and practiced in order for it to rise to the level of art. You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment but you cannot lead without it; and without leadership, command is a hollow experience. .. a vacuum often filled with mistrust and ignorance. Another thing, a lot of developments from the aerospace sector gets used to on other fields. Even those adult diapers can be traced to aviation needs. Some advances too that were previously scoffed at - including some of my "sci-fi" ideas are turning out to be realities. Take for example the idea of optical camouflage or what I termed as a primitive cloaking device. There's a company that markets such for tanks. And the Americans are said to be using it too on their black projects since radar stealth no longer being easy to do. Plus the fact that electro-optical sensors are augmenting radars. Then there's also the use of plasma to produce absolute radar stealth. Although you'll glow like a ball of fire when using it though - and the Russians have considered using it on that Yak 141 Freestyle. And from what a poster, bugsbunny, on another forum analyzed about the Thais: Gentlemen, Thailand is a country to be admired for their ability to secure funds from the US government for major weapons systems equipment acquisition , training to benefit their armed forces. Isnt it enviable that the Thais are able to acquire such marvelous " wonder toys" compared to the AFP inspite of the fact that the Philippines has a much longer history of cooperation , mutual defense pacts and treaties with the United States. History alone shows how this country's allegiance to the United States as among its staunchest allies dating back from WW2 , through the Cold War and this country's committment to the GLOWAT ( Global War Against Terrorism ). Yet to date the United States continously hands down " crumbs" to thier Filipino comrades in arms. One may be led to ask, why the U.S. cannot and does not supply the AFP with modern planes , tanks, ships , etc., etc., when compared to the defense aid provided to Thai Royal Armed Forces. This question was answered by a good friend of mine who was a former officer in a Seal Boat Squadron . Included in his stint in the US Nay was a desk job in the Pentagon which entailed interfacing with the Thai government govt . Apparently the Thai Government hires a number of Washington lawyers /lobbyists to acquire a large portion of the Foreign Military Aid budget that the U.S. Congress has signed into law. This law can be found in the United States Code Title 10 and is part of the U.S. budget. Monies set aside for every fiscal year is then portioned out to the various countries who expressed interest in the program. Apparently Thailand who has a very aggressive lobby firm in Washington gets a sizeable chunk of this grant every year. Now that this has been made public here in the forum one wonders why the Philippines has not done this at all. I seem to recall that the government had hired a lobby firm in D.C. but that was for support of the charter change. This only means that we should improve upon our weakness. And not just on funding strong lobby groups but also our insurance if those lobby groups fail to deliver (and hopefully not on issues that aren't required yet as that of the cha-cha, in my opinion). |

And not to forget, the Americans are also considering developing and fielding an orbital bomber. One would've noticed that the recent weapons developments are just rehashed ideas from some of what the Nazis did. |

Here is an update on what Lewis Shaw have done on the Super Pinto. In 1998 Lewis Shaw bought #11 Pinto. Ezell Aviation quickly went to work fully restoring it.The original J-69 engine, which produced 930 pounds of thrust, was replaced with the more powerful GE J-85-17A, this more than tripled the thrust to 2,850 pounds. Also important was improving the fuel system which was very limited in a trainer model. Adapting Boeing wet wing technology and tip tanks from a Mitsubishi MU-2 doubled the capacity and allowed a flight ranges of 800 miles. 7,000 feet of wire were ran to update and add a new IFR avionics package. ![]() Adopting Mitsubishi MU-2 tip tanks. ![]() ![]() Cockpit with new IFR avionic package ![]() Ejection Seat ![]() ![]() Flight Mode ![]() Park Mode Interesting Improvement on Super Pinto. It may retain some of its original features but we can still put a room for built in radar that can be possibly mounted in the wing part or structural modification is better otherwise. |

"No sacrifice is too great in the service of freedom." “As long as we are not willing to provide an adequate, suitable and capable defense for this country, we will be oppressed, demeaned and dishonored. We will be the stepping mat of every country in this region,”(Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile) “Just because we are a very weak country militarily, we should not be taken advantage of by more powerful countries" (Senate committee on national defense and security chairman Panfilo Lacson) | |
