No idea na rin ako ngayon kung president pa ng Rotary unit yun friend ko. Naging friendly rin kasi siya kay FG especially during the Hello Garci period. If some posters here work or live in Makati baka pwede daanan yun office ni Ramos sa Urban Bank at yun kay FG para iwanan ng letters natin. Hindi ko na matandaan yun office ni Joker sa Makati or kung dun pa rin opisina niya. Any idea kaya kung iwanan ng kopya si Mayor Binay maipasa kaya niya to opposition leaders? |

Command is about authority, about appointment to a position. Effective leadership is different. It must be learned and practiced in order for it to rise to the level of art. You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment but you cannot lead without it; and without leadership, command is a hollow experience. .. a vacuum often filled with mistrust and ignorance. Sen. Gordon has a good understanding on the matter. From the needed jets to radars. I surmised he had talked with someone from the military before he drafted his speech. Sen. Biazon is now CONFUSED about the relationship between the national defense and the delivery of basic services. Could it be because of his age or that he just failed to balance his understanding on both issues? Tsk tsk tsk. Kawawa naman si Sen. Biazon. I believe he needs to go over our posts here para magkaruon sya ng MATINUNG pananaw sa relasyun ng national defense at basic services. Sen. Pimentel is an excellent statesman indeed. Despite his lack of knowledge on the matter, his inherent attribute as a good lawmaker makes him heed the need to understand the issue more and do what he can do to give his part. Sen. Osmena dont have the guts to talk about the issue. masyadong makitid pananaw sa isyu. Hindi kaya kadikit sya ng mga kumunista? Hmmmm May anti-aircarft missile pa daw ang mga submarines. Wow! Kelan pa? Weird! Baka sa ANIME sa TV? BTW, just to educate the good Senator on the matter, this is a simple explanation on the relationship between national defense and basic services. - DELIVERY OF BASIC SERVICES DEPENDS ON THE ECONOMY. How much the govt earns from taxes tell us how it can implement these services and fund infrastructure projects. - ECONOMY DEPENDS ON CONDITION OF THE OVER-ALL ENVIRONMENT. Investors must first have the confidence in bringing in their capital before they do invest. - THE OVER-ALL CONDITION OF THE ENVIRONMENT DEPENDS OF NATIONAL SECURITY. The military ensures that the whole country is NOT BESIEGED by insurgency, crime and terrorism. The Army and PNP secures our land from the proliferation of crime and terrorism. The Navy secures our EEZ and prevents smugglers, poachers and pirates from disturbing our economy or the flow of commerce. The Air Force, on the other hand, PROTECTS OUR INTEREST in conflicts involving other nations, like the Spratly's, the Sabah issue and other terrirtorial disputes. We lost the Mishief Reef because we are weak. Had our military possessed what it needed to have to protect OUR INTEREST, Mischief Reef could still be ours. Aside from that, the Air Force .....GREATLY ENHANCES the capability of both the ground and naval forces in securing our nation. No wonder our military has gone this bad. Daming BOBO sa Kongreso! Tapos NAGTATAKA SILA BA'T MABAGAL PAGUNLAD NG EKONOMIYA NATIN? Kawawang Pilipinas. |

Sir Tora^2's analysis on why our AFP is still centered on counter-insurgency operations certainly is worth factoring into. Sir GKB02, although FG may not have much of an incline to help out in this issue gawin na lang natin spray and pray ang efforts natin. Hopefully, some would get through. Kasi, napansin ko kung sa opposition members medyo mabagal ang action at sidetracked kapag may major issue na bago. Although I still don't like GMA if what she's doing is indeed doing positive results for the economy pwedeng pagbigyan muna until a proper investigation on her legality is brough about. May puntos rin naman kasi na magtulungan muna for the development of our country rather than bicker until the day na pwede na uli imbestigahan siya. Gawin na lang muna secondary yun iipuning ebidensiya for that day. |

South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan became an economic and high tech giants nothwitstanding their huge budget for defense. Does having a huge budget for defense and military modernization affects the economic development of a nation? What about Singapore? She has one of the biggest defense budget per capita. |

That is after they had achieved industrialization and peace. As to Taiwan and South Korea it's a necessity like that of Israel. And another thing missing from us, UNITY. We don't have it but we got lot's of CRAB MENTALITY instead!

South Korean, Taiwann and Singapore has no insurgency problems not like to our country that we are facing more enemies. First thing to do is Thats we should call all the senators to push thru the 2006 national budget. Ang tagal na kasi sa congress ang budget proposal.although 5 billion lang ang noted increase in the DND/AFP budget it should be approve before march. |

Actually, what pushed them to increase defense expenditures in their respective nations were serious threats to their External Security. South Korea is still in a state of Armstice with North Korea though the DPRK may still resume the Korean war. What's worse is Kim Jong Il has nukes and certainly has the balls to use them. Taiwan is also under threat of forced "Reunification" with Mainalnd China even if the Nationalists seemed to be more warm to the idea. The native Taiwanese scare both since their group wants to be an independent nation other than "another China". The only thing that prevents Beijing from invading would be US intervention even if it recognizes the PRC as the only China. Of course, everyone knows, Washington has more nukes than China does. As for Singapore, it wasn't in good terms with Malaysia after they split when the British. Though they seem more civl nowadays. What would scare this Island nation is if Malaysia by some quirk of fate became a radical Islamic Fundamentalist state. What be worse is if it's other neighbor, the largest nation with a predomianntly Muslim Population, Indonesia went radical fundmentalist. it seems that the nations we should follow in terms of defense planning would be either Israel, South Africa or Latin American nations like Colombia and Mexico As for the 2006 budget, I'd rather see it passed ASAP. Everyone except the pork-greedy Congressmen are sick and tired of a reenacted 2003 budget |
