Bandar Seri Begawan - Three women are among the 74 cadets making up the Philippine Military Academy Silent Drill Company of 2007 who will showcase the culture of military excellence during a four-night International Tattoo performances for His Majesty's 60`, birthday celebrations from tonight.

The female PMA cadets, Marianne B. Soria Airos, Marianes B. Sotelo and Beryl Charity T. Bacolcol, have shown they are physically tough and academically excellent to become members of this elite group.

The Silent Drill Company executes preside movements and meaningful formations, punctuated by fancy rifle drills. These attest to the training and education quality the PMA instills among its cadets.

The 2007 Silent Drill Company adapted the name Maragtas, an ancient Filipino legendary hero. Its members are geared to become the future leaders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, sworn to safeguard the country's freedom and independence.

It will be joined by the 56-member General Headquarters Band of the Armed Forces of the Philippines during their Tattoo performances at the 30,000-seater Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium until Aug 1.

The GHQ-AFP Band's repertoire includes Anniversary March, The Movies, GQ, Finale, Andrew Lloyd Webber songs, Argentina, MOT Boogie, Pinoy Big Brother, Dancing Queen, Happy Birthday and Dahil Sa Iyo (Because of You).

On Thursday night, the Philippine Contingent to the Brunei Darussalam International Tattoo 2006, headed by Col. Danny P. Pabunan of the Philippine Army, were hosted to a dinner by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Virginia H. Benavidez and the officers of the Philippine Embassy.

The dinner also hosted for the Philippine delegation to the Asean-Austalia-New Zealand Trade Negotiating Committee Meeting, was held at the ambassador's official residence, Ang Bahay, in Rimba.

The Benavidez Kitchen prepared Filipino delicacies like prawn sour soup (sinigang na hipon), chicken adobo, beef with mushrooms, fresh lumpia, fish fingers, kare-kare (oxta'il stew with vegetables) and papaya salad, home-made taho ( sweetened bean curd )and the very popular moist Benavidez chocolate cake. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
