I invoke a leadership principle against hazing. Know your men and look after their welfare. Subjecting your men to hazing is not looking after their welfare. I say hazing has no leadership or command value. Inflict damage on the enemy not on your men. The alternative to hazing is Physical Training (PT). Better to subject the recruit to PT in doing the army dozen with gradual reps. Better to do road run with gradual increases in distances. Best to do pull-ups with gradual increases in reps. You want to harden people? Do PT in its proper way. I was hazed and was made to drink ranger wine. I am against it because it has no value in combat. Everyone goes home? Not with hazing. |

What is the purpose of hazing, make the troops or cadets strong? Make them more resistant to torture? Hazing is very damaging, according to my friend who is taking his doctoral in psychology that hazing creates the "Revenge mentality" and you do not need to hit a person to talk because their are a lot ways to make a person crack and one of those are more powerful psychotropic drugs. I say no to hazing. |

My son was a PMA Class Sanghaya 2000 who is now a Captain in the Navy told me he was never been hazed except doing some odd tasks like cleaning toilets with bare hands. However I am not fully sure if he waived the Code of Silence and not telling me the truth. Hazing is a barbaric act not to be applied to human beings. |

I know of many who haven't fallen for "honey traps" - They were civilians. I've known a few within my family in Spain who were hazed when they joined the service - They've fallen for "honey traps". And the women weren't even Soviets. Point is.... you fall for "them" - hazed or not hazed. Selling information and technology to betray one's country is because of greed and not because of love.
