NAVY NABS KIDNAP FOR RANSOM LEADER; P1.5M SMUGGLED ITEMS AND UNDOCUMENTED LUMBER SEIZED JULY 19, 2005 Joint operatives from the Naval Intelligence Service Units (NISU) and the PNP Intelligence Divisions in Quezon and Batangas captured a notorious leader of the “Moog Kidnap for Ransom Group (Moog KFR Group) last Saturday. The KFR leader was identified as Efren Amido, alias “Pusa” of Brgy. Paiisa, Tiaong, Quezon. The successful arrest was a result of an intelligence build-up and surveillance operations conducted by the NISU and PNP which led to the discovery of the group’s operations and hide-out at Sitio Palanguyan, Brgy. Paiisa, Tiaong, Quezon. Amido is now detained at PNP- Tiaong for tactical interrogation. Meanwhile, members of the 211th Marine Company (211MC) apprehended four smugglers who were trying to sneak in more than 120 cartons of Astro cigarettes from a vessel anchored along the RP-Malaysian boarders last Wednesday. The smuggled items were worth more than P1million. The Marines also seized a gray motor speedboat powered by two 200HP Yamaha V6 engines. The felons were identified as a certain Abdul Rahjic Abdul, Omer Daiyan, Bas Paspasan, and Anao Satahari, all residents of Barangay Panglima Alari, Sintakal, Tawi-Tawi. Also last week, members of Marine Battalion Landing Team 7 (MBLT-7) confiscated undocumented lumber with an estimated market value of P59,880 in two separate occasions in Lanao Del Sur. Around 948 board feet of lumber loaded in an Isuzu HI-Sliding pick-up were seized in Brgy. Pumping, Marawi City last Tuesday. The lumber with an estimated value of P9,480 had no legal documents. The driver and his companions were identified as Juloran Junry and Arnel Cortez of Iligan City and Aah Calauto of Marawi City. MBLT-7 also seized another shipment of undocumented lumber Wednesday last week at a checkpoint in Dimarawo, Matampay- Bubong town. The undetermined volume of lumber, loaded in two red Tamaraw vehicles had an estimated value of P50,400. The owner was identified as a certain Calaca Sultan of Marawi City who failed to present proper documents. The vehicles were driven by a certain Cesar Laguindab of Sabala Amano of Marawi City and a certain Isamel Bonda of Raya Lumbayanague town. Their companions were identified as Jabar Alimudin, Ambas Aringao and Kalil Atong, all of Marawi City. The owners of the lumber were advised to secure the required documents. All the confiscated items are now in the custody of MBLT7 prior turn-over to local authorities. :thumb:
