Proton Seeks Inroads Into Russia

June 28, 2005 06:55 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Malaysia's national car maker Proton expects to export its cars to Russia by early next year to boost its overseas sales, a company official said Tuesday.

Proton's entry into Russia would be part of a government trade-off following Malaysia's purchase of Russian Sukhoi fighter jets, helping the company to penetrate Russia's rapidly growing auto market, said Proton's head of strategic planning, Haris Fadzillah Hassan.
