Philippine F-8 static display after Mount Pinatubo eruption

In late 1977, the Philippine government purchased 35 ex-US Navy F-8Hs that were stored at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona. Twenty-five of them were refurbished by Vought and the remaining ten were used for spare parts. As part of the deal, the US would train Philippine pilots in using the TF-8A. The F-8s were grounded in 1988 and were finally withdrawn from service in 1991 after they were badly damaged by the Mount Pinatubo eruption and have since been offered for sale as scrap.

If you guys want crusaders, you can also approach the French who bought in the 70s `Saders for their carriers the Clemenceau and Foch. These fighters served as escorts for their Etendard and Super Etendard carrier-based fighter bombers.

Of the 30 or so fighters they have bought, 17 were renovated into F8Prolonges which also recieved modest avionics upgrades. All French Crusaders were phased out by 2000 in favor of the Rafale
