relax comrades. we should not be fighting. instead, we must discuss things and share opinions without offending others. :exactly:

Sirikittong: do you think the Philippine and Thai navies can cooperate in anti-terrorist and anti-smuggling training operations? :crawling:

Absolutely. As a naval officer, I can safely say that many of my collegues here aggree that the same problems we here in Thailand experience in the south with muslim insurgent/terrorists are same as what Manila is facing in its southern provicnes.

Optimization of ASEAN countermeasures to this threat and undermining Islamiyah Jerimiyah would be conducting joint Philippine-Thai naval exercises. Patrol boat exercises and seals operations would increase our effectiveness. I am very sure that we Thais could learn A GREAT DEAL from our Philippine counterparts, as you guys are FAR MORE experienced in fighting the muslim extremist problem. And I am sure we can teach you soem things in the naval point of view.

Sirikittong: precisely. Buddhist Thailand and Christian Philippines share the same problem with Islamic fundamentalists, most of whom are trained and supported by J.I. and Al Qaeda and, allegedly, by countries such as MALAYSIA, Iran, Libya and Saudi Arabia. we can really cooperate on such missions. i'm hoping that Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra and Philippine President Gloria Arroyo will talk more often and bolster military ties between the Philippines and Thailand. :specool:

by the way, are you going to part of the Thai contigent the CARAT 2005 military exercises? :rifle:

God speed to that increased dialogue! And it is good to know that Thailand and Philippines, as brother states and friends for centuries, hold both the Chinese and Malaysians as the common threat. We both know that Malaysia is a threat, but deep inside our minds, we know that it is China that is the greater threat (nuclear) lol.

As for Carat 2005...no i wish I can participate this year; I was there last year. Im sure it will be better than last year!

Sirikittong: i'm not a member of the Philippine military. i'm an economics graduate of the University of the Philippines and about to enter law school this month.

i'm more than honest to admit that i am indeed "an armchair general" but my concern for the well-being of the Armed Forces of the Philippines is genuine and out of love for my country, the Philippines. :patrioticpinoy:

SIRIKITTONG, just ignore that Singa Lion, sometime the things he posted here just simply juvenile.

In fact ,I wonder whether he is really from Singapore(SG)?

I mean the signature he use is copy and paste signature from another a real SG member in WAFF, and at times was only here to annoy the pinoys here.

Anyway, SG and Thai are very closed, we have training troops in Thai all year round, we donated our 7 F-16A/B in exchange for air base,we sold sold FACs,CIS 40AGL, 40L70 AAA, SAR-80 etc to Thai armed forces and we are the only one in SEA that particpated in your Cobra Gold exe with Thai and US forces etc.

We have sent troops during the 80s to Thai northern border and have joint patrol when the Viet invaded Cambodia just in case it escalated into Thailand.

so sg after all almost experienced combat during the vietnamese invasion of cambodia, why the joint patrols? i cannot believe the proud and independent thais asking for assistance from singa troops to patrol their borders, can you clarify this sirikittong?

That was supposed to be hush hush, but it was so long ago that the info leaked out.

The purpose for the patrol was to let SG soldiers to be familiar to the border area.

At that time, the Viets was the most powerful army in SEA with almost a thousand MBTs, arty and also a lot of Mig-21s with almost a million battle hardered soldier etc, the Thai at the time even in term of number as well as asset still lose out to the Viet greatly. And there were a large Soviet naval Vietnam, so no one at that time would know what would the Viet communist (with Soviet backing) do after Cambodia.

In fact , it started some kind of arms buying fenzy in the region, the Thai, SG, MY and Indon started to get more tanks,APC, a/c etc

I believe if Vietnam ever push down southward, I think the ASEAN would turn from economical entity to a more or less military alliances.
