Would not it more advantageous for the Philippine Navy to get a used patrol boat armed with Missiles, and with main guns that the navy already uses? If I can recall, the Sea Wolves were offered stripped off of missiles. |

Any latest update regarding the Philippine Navy acquiring those ex-RSN Sea Wolves Gunboats? I read somewhere that there are talks between PN and RSN, but the Gunboats will have only Guns and Basic Electronics. Hope we can acquire those Gunboats at cheap price since they are already Retired vessels and I believe those ships are well maintained. 6 units of Sea Wolves Gunboats were Decommission last Summer 2008. |

i doubt it's for the scrap heap, very few of our old stuff are for scrap, most are for sale or given away, for example; base on our previous retired stuff, the Bell 212 is being sold to Sri Lanka, the Bloodhound is rumoured sold to Myanmar, the Diving Tender Jupiter given to Indonesia, SF260 also to Indonesia, F16A/B to Thailand, our old LST are now a floating barrier.....for the retired Skyhawk, 1 is for a museum in france, 1 is now with our polytechnic, i'm sure most are being cannibalised to maintain the current AJT detachement in france. i think the Hunter are for scrap but i know some are auction off to private collectors, dont know what happen to our T33, Strikemaster trainer and Mercury/Jupiter minesweeper, maybe scrap. |

Spider, nice posting regardiing the Decommissioning of 6 RSN Sea Wolves MGB. I don't think its really for scrap. We pray that Singapore Government will donate those Sea Wolves to Philippine Navy at friendship price. Same with the South Koreans by giving their PKM Gunboats at price that our Philippine Navy can't ignore to pass. Sea Wolves will also bolster the security of the Philippine Archipelago and strengthen ties between the two countries since Singaporean Army use our facilities in a Mutual Military Exercise with the Philippine Army. For sure, its a strip-down version of Sea Wolves (without the Missiles) that will be donate just like when RSN newly acquired those boats when it only has the 57mm Gun as its main weapon. |

These boats, even if stripped of missiles could still be put to good use here. Singapore has already donated decommed assets to other ASEAN states, I hope its now the Philippines turn. :thumb: |
