No protective cover from enemy fire?

OH MY GOD!

they mounted servos on this gun mount?

No recoil damper rails?

Where is the camera?

What is provision for elevation and windage compensation?

Will that cross bolt hold as it is mounted near the fulcrum of the azlev mount?

I bet they mounted the azimuth motor in the center of that mount and that acme screw in the right side will not hold.

cdf i dont think your navy is that dumb enough to install that gun on the ship without first testing it , if its there then they already have tested it and found it to work ok :thumb:

The SAF is an armed force , not a civilian corporation. Its mission is to defeat its enemies, ruthlessly and completely. Its an instrument of controlled fury, designed to visit death and destruction of its foes...soldiers must have steel in their souls ..must learn in war to kill and not to flinch, to destroy and not to feel pity, to be a flaming sword in the righteous cause of national survival.

These vessels were built between 1975-78 and were transferred to the Philippine Navy in 1993. Armament fits may vary. Owing to its high speed, a naval interceptor task force is currently being formed utilizing 3 of this class to combat high-speed raiders, smugglers and pirates in the southern Philippines.

You guys are right, but the next step is to undertake the following:

1. Hydraulic, pneumatic (or a combination) positioning system, no torque issues to resolve

2. By using damper rails or mounts, the dead weight of gun should rest on a bigger cross section and a larger area isolated from the automated mount, shock absorbers will be good to dampen the recoil.

3. a laser rangefinder can be installed beside the camera mount, which is installed in the dampened gun mount.

4. I truly advise against motors of any kind (AC, DC, Stepper, Servo)in such exposed equipment (sun, wind, heat, stress, sunlight). Motors are prone to corrosion as it needs to have high conductive components (which are easily corroded by natural elements and phenomena) and naval conditions are tough such devices.

The concept of remote-controlled guns has long been utilized by our AFP. More so by the Navy which knows the hazards of manned guns. Even our old ships are already sporting these although the initial ones were fitted by foreign companies. I'm not sure how much info on this subject should be exposed but rest assured that our Navy has more than enough experience in such things. The .50 mod might be the first done by local tech but experience wise we have more than enough to utilize such tech well in naval and support actions.

What I would like to see next would be a UAV used by Navy ships.
Command is about authority, about appointment to a position. Effective leadership is different. It must be learned and practiced in order for it to rise to the level of art. You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment but you cannot lead without it; and without leadership, command is a hollow experience. .. a vacuum often filled with mistrust and ignorance.
