No one brave enough to face PAcMan No ballz.. But with his fearsome reputation growing with each day, the Filipino’s would-be foes seem to have been avoiding him like the plague. Marquez, who apparently broke his nose after getting knocked down by Pacquiao thrice in the first round, has decided against forging a dream rematch and instead signed young mandatory challenger Orlando Salido for his next opponent. Barrera, who expressed willingness to get back at Pacquiao after getting clobbered through 11 rounds in San Antonio, Texas, decided to look the other way. After winning his last match with Paulie Ayala, Barrera said that he wanted Pacquiao more than anyone else. “We have to look for the next big thing,” said Muhammad, who mentioned the name of another Mexican Oscar “Chololo” Larios as Pacquiao’s next possible opponent. “We can’t cry over that. God is great. If that is God’s will, so be it. I have a commodity that America loves. A master is born in the United States and his name is Manny Pacquiao,” said Muhammad. Muhammad also took a swipe at the fighters who have evaded Pacquiao. “If they were only like Muhammad Ali, they wouldn’t sleep until they get a rematch. That’s what made Ali great.” “Manny will fight this year. He has to. I say he has to continue training and that he goes back to the gym (of Freddie Roach),” Muhammad said. Larios, who won his last two fights as a featherweight, is also being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, according to Muhammad. http://www.manilatimes.net/national/2004/a...040828spo1.html |

The Pac Man may end up like Lennox Lewis - steaming and stagnating because no challenger has the balls to put up a challenge. |

Could be Larios vs Pacquiao By winchell campos LOS ANGELES — Manny Pacquiao might face another Mexican for the fourth straight time if talks push through between his promoter Murad Muhammad and Golden Boy Promotions which handles Oscar “Chololo” Larios. Muhammad confirmed Thursday that he got a call from Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, asking to open the tables for a possible November fight date for Pacquiao and Larios. "Richard Schaefer asked me to make an offer," said Muhammad, who is feeling the heat for still failing to land Pacquiao a big money fight since May. Larios is king in the WBC super-bantamweight division but has decided to move up in weight and has won as a featherweight in his last two fights. The 27-year-old Larios sports a formidable 53-3-1 including 14 straight wins. He has been busy all year and has fought thrice already, paling in comparison with Pacquiao, who has only fought once, settling for a controversial draw with Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez who fights Saturday. "There is one more option but we will announce the outcome of negotiations on Monday or Tuesday," added Muhammad, asking for the identity of Pacquiao’s other possible opponent off wraps. Pacquiao, who has been quoted as to have said that he will burn his way through Mexico, has knocked out Emmanuel Lucero and Marco Antonio Barrera in the year 2003. Such statements have gotten the ire of Mexicans, Larios included. Larios, himself, has expressed willingness to face off with Pacquiao. Moreover, talks between Muhammad and handlers of Joel Casamayor have been stalled for the moment. Also, a fight between Pacquiao and WBO champion Scott Harrison, is not feasible at this time, added Muhammad. Meanwhile, Muhammad said that it has been hard for some of the best fighters in the world to get fights themselves, looking to compare his situation with other promoters’ woes. "(Floyd) Pretty Boy" Mayweather, Vernon Forrest and Antonio Tarver are just some examples. They too, have no fight schedules later this year," said Muhammad. "You can’t fault the act of God," added Muhammad, who failed to sign Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales. He, however, revealed that the rematch between Pacquiao and Marquez has been renegotiated for February next year. "I got a call from Bob Arum and there might even be an announcement soon about a possible rematch," said Muhammad, who might join Pacquiao at ringside when Marquez defends his WBA/IBF belts against young Orlando Salido and Oscar De La Hoya attempts to snatch the undisputed middleweight crown of the Executioner, Bernard Hopkins at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday. http://www.mb.com.ph/SPRT2004091818637.html |

Larios in action against Japan's Nakazato. a dangerous fighter but I think Pacman will beat him.

Pacquiao sharp in workout! By Karl Freitag A huge media turnout were on hand for Manny Pacquiao media day at the Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California. Pacquiao looked explosive in his workout, but you won't be seeing it on the evening news. All cameras were required to be turned off while Pacquiao sparred with Jose Armando Santa Cruz. "There's too many people in my gym," Roach told Fightnews.com. Freddie said that Manny is currently at 129 pounds and has lost none of his speed at the higher weight. Pacquiao's last day of sparring will be on Monday, at which point Team Pacquiao will drive from L.A. into Las Vegas. His March 19 PPV opponent Erik Morales will be arriving in Las Vegas by jet from Mexico on Tuesday. But I do believe Pacquiao believed his own hype and succumbed to a more technical and methodical fighter. Not to mention The Terrible's wider experience in world-class bouts. |

I respect this man's views about what happened. Still he's a fighter so let's all pray for him. To me, he represented everything good about us Pilipinos despite his loss. Yes, at least 2 points lang ang natalo niya sa judges' decision, but it is still there that he can win despite na dalawang beses na siyang tinalo ni Morales. To me, he's a unique person and has no intentions of giving up. LETS ALL JUST PRAY FOR HIS SUCCESS THIS TIME AROUND! Still though, he is doing more than his share to represent us. MABUHAY KA MANNY PACQUIAO! |
