From the looks of it, Mischief reef is absolutely within our territory the real contention shall only be Malaysia & RP the only part close to China is Paracel reef, Chicoms have no business owning Mischief area.It is very clear they are just for oil bec. of the Malampaya find and the close proximity within Palawan archipelago. China is retaliating bec. they were bullied before by the Brits and Japs. Now it's them doing it due to impending superpower status.

This is what I am waiting for... Communist Vietnam and China fighting till all exhausted their hardwares thus weakens both of them. Then its our chance to evict all Chinese and Vietnamese Claimants in West Philippine SEA. We will start with Mischief Reef - then we build a man-made island like what we did in reclamation area where Mall of Asia is located now...

Declare it as Fishermen's and Navy sailors Recreation Haven... and supply depot with communication satellite systems and Radar.

They can't and they won't since it's a disputed Islands, maybe they can scout the area but the Chinese will go nuts if they see a US asset around the area and China's Dome Array Radar in Subi Reef will go nuts as well! :lollol:

China accuses Vietnam of 'gravely violating' sovereignty
06/10/2011 | 11:17 AM

BEIJING - China accused Vietnam of "gravely violating" its sovereignty and endangering Chinese sailors in the South China Sea in an escalating row over territorial claims in the resource-rich region.

More of the article here.

Does anyone else on here think for even a minute that those so-called Chinese 'fishermen' weren't really PLAN operatives trained-in and specifically there for sabotage and covert operations against other nations conducting oil surveys and other research??

It's obvious to me anyway...

Yes there is big possibility these are spies acting as fisherman, and also that bunker they built we don't know what's inside of it maybe they are already exploring the area beneath it's ocean floor, so a positive find of oil & gas will surely a flash point of possible full scale war.

Where on earth did you get the idea that this is in support of the Philippine position? It clearly says otherwise:

“The ship will be sailing through waters that the US considers international waters to assert right of free passage and to demonstrate the international community does not accept national claims to the contrary,” the report said.
