I bet this is not the 1st time that these foreign fishermen (Vietnamese & Chinese) intruded inside the Philippines Territorial waters, that is why they are confident and in numbers that they will not be caught.

Are they thinking that we are that DEFENSELESS on that side of our country?

Local folks and Barangay Officials especially in Palawan should also help in monitoring these Foreign boats regarding illegal fishing.

^^They are obviously taking advantage of our defenseless borders.

China will step up oil drilling and intimidation in the southern part of the disputed Spratly Islands starting in July with a brand new oil rig that was built at a cost of $923 Million, can withstand typhoons and weighs 31,000 tons with a height of a 45 story bldg. and can drill up to 12,000 meters below the seabed... :wow:

MANILA, Philippines—Defense chief Voltaire Gazmin on Wednesday said that despite the recent surge in alleged incursions of Chinese ships and planes into the Philippine-claimed territories in the disputed Spratly islands in South China Sea, diplomacy will continue to be maintained.
“We have to respond diplomatically to this issue. The most we can do is file diplomatic protests—that is the most civilized thing to do at this moment,” Gazmin said during the Communication and News Exchange Forum at the Philippine Information Agency in Quezon City.
The defense chief, quoting Armed Forces chief of staff General Eduardo Oban Jr., said that they had received five to six reported intrusions this year. Most of them were reportedly committed by Chinese vessels, the latest occurring last May 21 and 24 wherein Filipino fishermen reportedly saw Chinese vessels unloading steel posts near the Likas and Patag islands, some 100 nautical miles off Palawan, well within the Philippine territory.

Can we just sit-down and file protests all the time this thing happened inside our EEZ? Powerless na tayo?

It looks like its too late now for us. China is slowly creeping into the spratleys and soon will have several oil platform dirlling in the areas claimed by us and nothing really we can do. Even the US cannot and will not do anything about this. China now as we know is not only an emerging military power but also economically influential around the world of economics, the US owes thrillion of dollars to China so if we think the US military will help us on this issues think again.

What we should and failed to do is the modernation of the AFP which never happened way back it started 10 yrs ago due to negligence and incopentence of our government officials including past presidents after Marcos. Remember those who do their homework and work hard are always the winner and China does. Only Vietnam will be able to deter China in some point because Vietnam has upgraded its armed forces and build up its defenses in their part in KIG. Whereas we are all talk with less action. Even Pagasa island has poor runway and facilities and maybe don't even have any anti aircraft or SAMs battery in their but troops who can all die if China attack the small island. So at this point we are a lost cause. The return of US bases will not even help us, better not let it return. We are better off we the VFA instead and use of subic as resupply where the US ships can hire our local contractors and vendors for supplies, so just on the business side. In addition the US forces is now undergoing reduction due to their economic problems. we just never learn don't we. are we going to learn from this again? maybe not, maybe true to what I hear from foreigners, that we Filipinos are laid back.

We're so easy to push over nowadays that it doesn't even take any effort. Even if we fast track modernization, it wont be fast enough to give us our desired outcome.
If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.
