we also need a few subs even mini subs about 5 or 7 of this subs will be a force to recon with in the sea. this subs can make the chicoms nervous if we blew up jone of their frigrates and it they have an aircraft carrier soon these mini subs can do the job with a few resources. But again we have a very incompetent government. I remember late Pres Marcos, if he was not overthrown we probably be ahead in grabbing those islets and islands in the area, remember it was under his watch when coloma claimed the sprately islands and no one in the neighborhood was giving it an importance at all until we found oil. It was also under Marcos watch when he planned the failed Jabidah commando training to seize Sabah back to us only to be exposed and the operator in charge of training the ----- Maj Abdul Latif according to sources did not pay the muslim commando trainees and also did not fed them well. so they mutunied and once it went to the media, the top secret operation was exposed. Had this plan succeeded we would have had Sabah back to us. But it will be more difficult now having a primitive AFP especially now that Malaysia built a large naval base in Sabah with 2 or their submarines based there. so this is all our fault. Now what are we going to do about it, maybe abolish congress. (just joking)

Sir. Hitman,

Yes we need some one like him again in the future, his "Exceptional Intelligence" and strong personality.

We only have this much to spend re; P.Noy's announcement and there's no room for "SUBs" maybe later when the Economy is much better.....

THIS IS GOOD NEWS!!!!

P8 Billion Pesos to spend according to the article posted above!

Live rates at 2011.03.28 12:03:00 UTC
P8,000,000,000.00 PHP = $184,098,484.94 M. USD
Philippines Pesos United States Dollars
1 PHP = 0.0230123 USD 1 USD = 43.4550 PHP

Can I ask your opinion re; P.Noy's urgent decision to put out funds for NAVY Vessels, long range patrol aircraft and Radar equipments to be used for safeguarding and protection of our interests in the Palawan area up to Reed Bank.

I believe this is a separate acquisition ordered by P.Noy and not part of the AFP Modernization plan..... :dunno: or is it? Anyway it's GOOD NEWS to Everyone!!! :thumb:

MANILA, Philippines—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has allocated P31 million to repair the dilapidated runway on Philippine-occupied Pag-asa Island within the disputed Spratlys chain of islands in the South China Sea.

“That’s a standing order. We are going to undertake the rehabilitation of the runway as soon as possible. We need to address this immediately. As a matter of fact we have allotted P31 million for the repairs,” AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr. told reporters in Camp Aguinaldo Monday.

Oban also said they are preparing a list of naval and aerial patrol assets and radar equipment to be bought with the P8 billion earlier earmarked by President Benigno Aquino III to upgrade military facilities in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) which is claimed by the Philippines.

The KIG is within the Spratlys chain of islands which is claimed wholly and partly by the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei.

Kalayaan is considered a municipality of Palawan province.

Its biggest island, Pag-asa, has an airstrip and basic facilities for the group of soldiers stationed on it who get by with a monthly delivery of supplies. But the airstrip has been long neglected and can no longer be used.

“We shall continue our presence in the area, particularly in the protection of our resources,” Oban said.

any acquisition to any branch of the services especially our Navy is good news, I just wish it came earlier but anything even modest is better than none. Just like I wrote previously here, we also need to deploy more troops in all of our islets there that can accommodate even a company size unit and build some structures like barracks, bunkers, anti aircraft guns, missiles and should now be a part of continous patrol by the Navy and airforce. Is the AFP going to be slow again in this deployments then it maybe too late if China or Vietnam suddenly seize an unoccupied islet there soon. We are racing against time here. Yes this is good move by Pnoy, I respect him for doing the initiative compared to the rest of them before him but he needs to do more. He needs to push the acquisition of new fighter jets.

That's right sirs and comrades we are all Patriotic Filipinos and sympathetic foreigners the Philippine situation here! all the opinions here have there respected merits so please lets us use our energies to create opinions that would be the voice of change for our nation and people.

Back to topic

We should i think develop our bases in Palawan for our Aircraft and ships and constantly drill our soldiers for Invasion or Intrusion by hostile forces so it would be second nature to our troops in the area let the police SAF and the CAFGUS handle the NPA/MILF/abu scum but don't leave them out of the plan they should have a role too but more as a additional fighting forces then build capabilities like mobile radar/SAM and build anti air/land/ship capabilities in the islands in the spratlys and fix earth made fix positions and concrete fix positions man by special forces soldier with front line experience because in terms of equipment and know how they are the best compare to normal soldiers and the rest of the mobile radar and Sams sites place them in the main land of palawan/mindoro/southern tagalog region then place supply base and back up supply bases near the area of palawan and mindoro and with long range artillery's and fix radar and SAM sites with cruise missile capabilities. Once secure the main land we can focus on the ships for the Navy along with planes for the airforce i would also advocate for ASW air arm for the Navy and other independent Air Corp for the different branches to make the this work.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance so as the saying goes in our case its vigilance, money, time and faith in ourselves not in the US not in the UN but our own am not advocating that we leave diplomacy or our connections to the outside world am saying we should both use diplomacy and ready force just in case because the in the real world no one respects weaklings i think its abundantly clear why.
"No sacrifice is too great in the service of freedom."

“As long as we are not willing to provide an adequate, suitable and capable defense for this country, we will be oppressed, demeaned and dishonored. We will be the stepping mat of every country in this region,”(Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile)

“Just because we are a very weak country militarily, we should not be taken advantage of by more powerful countries" (Senate committee on national defense and security chairman Panfilo Lacson)
