Northern Luzon Command chief says naval forces ready for all eventualities Monday, April 30. 2012 MANILA — In wake of Chinese bullying involving two vessels of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Northern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Anthony Alcantara said that unit's naval contingent is prepared for all eventualities concerning the more than two-week maritime stand-off at Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal. "Philippine Navy at the Northern Luzon Command are prepared to sail out to support the PCG on all eventualities," Alcantara said. He also said that the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines was prepared to assert the country's claim on Panatag Shoal as it was legal and recognized by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. "We are prepared to assert our sovereignty there," Alcantara said. The Northern Luzon Command chief said that the situation in Panatag Shoal remained stable so far with two Filipino vessels, BRP Pampanga (SAR-003) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources' MCS-3001, maintaining a constant vigil on the disputed waters. "BRP Pampanga is four to five nautical miles away from the south entrance of Panatag Shoal. She is accompanied by MCS-3001 who is positioned two nautical miles away from the southeast entrance. There is still two Chinese monitoring ships in the area and six of their fishing vessels," he said. Alcantara also said that Philippine aerial patrols were constantly keeping close coverage on Panatag Shoal but declined to give specifics for security reasons. He also said that Filipino fishermen were still able to go about in their lawful business, adding that the Northern Luzon Command would not tolerate harassment of any kind. Sorry Aszkal, but the no. of capable PN Assets is an open book and it's not like what you've than in other forums that you tried to disclosed our PN ships positions and movements, there's a big difference... No offense to you bro, just try to think next time and learn if the other party is just trying to bait you to feed infos to them regarding ours. I suggest you avoid replying to those sites, but just observe anything that would be of help to us, of course with wise judgement and analysis. -peace |

China denies ship 'bullied' Philippine boats ABS-CBNnews.com Posted at 04/30/2012 8:40 PM | Updated as of 04/30/2012 8:40 PM MANILA, Philippines - China on Monday denied that one of its ships deployed near the disputed Scarborough Shoal "bullied" Philippine vessels in the area. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press statement published online, said the incident is "sheer subjective assumption." "According to the information from relevant authorities, China's Yuzheng 310 went on patrol in waters off the coast of Huangyan Island in the early morning of April 28 (Saturday) in accordance with the law," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said. However, Lui did not discuss in the incident in detail. "Huangyan Island is an inherent part of China's territory and we hope that the Philippine side will stop creating incidents that make things even more complicated," he said. The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) earlier accused Beijing of employing "bullying" tactics after a speeding Chinese ship allegedly veered dangerously close to 2 Philippine vessels in the West Philippine Sea. No one was hurt but "these maneuvers by the Chinese vessel posed a danger to the Philippine vessels," DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said in a statement. "Our ships did not react to the bullying," he added. Hernandez said the movements of the Chinese vessel violated international regulations for preventing collisions of ships at sea. "We don't want that incident to happen again. We will bring this up to the Chinese authorities. We will again be bringing this to attention either verbally or diplomatic note," he added. In Saturday's incident, the Chinese vessel speeded past two Philippine coast guard ships at more than 20 knots (37 kilometers per hour), creating a high wave that buffeted the vessels. Ten Chinese ships are currently in the area while the Philippines has 5 vessels, Hernandez said Monday. The Chinese ships include a maritime surveillance ship, fisheries and law enforcement command boats, and fishing vessels. The Philippine Navy's BRP EDSA, a Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources ship and and 3 Filipino fishing vessels are also in the area. "Today, no untoward incident has been reported and the situation there is a bit calm. Yes, there's still a stand off because the Chinese ships are still there and they have not left the area, they have not left our territory. For yesterday and today there were no details of the activities being undertaken by the vessels there," Hernandez said. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/global-filipino...hilippine-boats ----------------------- Lol! Lying Chinks as their usual! Hope the PCG got some photos or videos to show these liars and the rest of the World of their dark schemes... PCG should always have all these events documented with videos uploaded/ forwarded to home base since from start. |

Taiwanese lawmakers visit Spratlys ![]() TAIPEI - Three Taiwanese legislators and several top military officers flew to the disputed Spratly islands Monday to renew their territorial claim amid mounting tensions in the South China Sea. The three legislators -- all sitting on the parliament's defense committee -- landed on Taiping Island, the biggest in the contested waters, on an air force C-130 transport plane. Taiwan built a 1,150-meter (3,795-foot) runway on the fortified island in mid-2006, despite protests from the other countries with claims on the disputed island group. The parliamentarians were briefed by officers on defense measures for repelling intruders. "The visit was aimed at reiterating Taiwan's territorial claim over the Spratlys," legislator Lin Yu-fang told reporters after the trip. The move came with tensions in the South China Sea running high, with China and the Philippines locked in a maritime dispute over the Scarborough Shoal. Read More: www.interaksyon.com |
