I do not see Russia getting involve in this little game of ours with China and the rest of the claimant nations as they have other problems like that Euro-ABM. As Arnie stated Russia and China are more like economic partners. |

Russia and China relations are more of for survival of both in the region. Russia and China and the US are trying to quietly exert influence in central asia. a few are taken by China and Russia both in trade and strategic relations while the US is also trying hard to gain influence, recently Uzbezkistan is getting closer to the US allowing use of US air base, but this depends and remains to be seen if such new relationship will remain in the future due to the nature of US intervention. Russia is at odds with Europe and NATO and the US because of the ABM defense shield being proposed in Europe. China had border war with Russia but both wanted to set this aside and make peace for their own survival against the west. so this relationships with China and Russia is more on trade but with suspicion on both sides and do not want to escalate. As the the issue in WPS. I don't think Russia will interfere or take sides. Although if shooting war starts in WPS which I think is unlikely, China can also make back door negotiations with Russia on some issues in the region, for example, we bought some assets to Russia, China can talk to Russia to try to suspend supply of parts of this assets but we can also counter this by ordering parts in eastern Europe where many Russian assets and logistics can be found or to the black market. I would not be too concerned with Russia when it comes to WPS issue especially if we try to be friendly with them and invite some of their investors to our country. |

our Neighbors Mig-29 Fleet are currently grounded because of Parts issue it would be very disadvantageous for us to procure and maintain Russian equipment. Since our closest allies use western made equipment it would be easy to acquire and maintain Western made Hardware's. |

I will not dislike this, Xwolf is entitled to his opinion on the Mikoyan issue, however Mikoyan is the only one with the issue and not Sukhoi. Besides Russia has been a little bit upset with China in the copyrights issue if you know what I mean. |

Let us face the reality, Russia will not send the Russian Pacific Fleet 36th Ship Division or the Tu-142 or Tu-22m of the 568th Independent Composite Aviation Regiment or any of the Borea's into our little WPS even though the Russian Pacific Fleet has the nuclear potential to turn SEA into a pile of rubble. |

Philippines unfazed by Taiwan Spratlys missile plan Agence France-Presse 2:47 pm | Sunday, October 16th, 2011 MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines said Sunday it was prepared to defend its claims in the South China Sea, but downplayed a plan by Taiwan to deploy missiles in the area. Defense department spokesman Zosimo Jesus Paredes said the country enjoyed good relations with Taiwan and believed its plan to supply missiles to coastguard units in the areas it claims was not a threat to the Philippines. “We cannot dictate on Taiwan on what or what not to do,” Paredes told reporters. “For as long as they don’t occupy what we already occupy, we have no problem. Live and let live.” However, he said Manila was prepared to “defend to the hilt” islets it has already occupied in the Spraltys. He did not elaborate. China claims all of the South China Sea, including the Spratlys, a group of islands and islets believed to sit atop vast oil and mineral reserves. Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, the Philippines and Malaysia also lay claim to all or part of the Spratlys. The overlapping claims have been a source of tension in the region, with the United States reiterating a call to all parties last week to peacefully solve the problem following Taiwan’s threat. http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/77173/philipp...ys-missile-plan |

Russian Sea power on the WPS would be negligible since they don't intend to mess around where its not beneficial to them. The price tag on the Sukhoi Su-30 is about the same as a brand new F-18, since our pilots were already familiar with the F-18 plus the Higher payload capacity of the F-18 over the SU-30. The US couter part of the SU-30 would have to be the F-15 not the F-15E. |
