China´s massacre in Spratly islands [real footage 1988]

In the occasion of celebrating the Chinese Navy 60th anniversary, a short video that was recorded by the Chinese navy in 1988 has been publicized by her state medien. It shows the actions of the Chinese navy in combat as the so called "self-defense" and conceals the reality of a massacre :

64 Vietnamese sailors were killed by 37mm anti-craft guns from Chinese warships in a few seconds.
-------------

Evidences of China's Crime: The Spratly Islands Massacre

1/
With proven historical evidences and an uninterrupted possession, Vietnam has been exercising her sovereignty over the Spratly Islands in the East Vietnam Sea, which is also known as the " South China Sea". However, with continuing ambition for hegemony to control natural resources as well as sea transportation routes, China has brutally and inhumanely attacked Viet Nam, seriously violating Vietnams sovereignty and international laws. This real footage, which was taken by the China Navy during the invasion of the Spratly Islands on March 14th 1988, is an irrefutable proof of China Navys crime. Using overwhelming armed forces, the China Navy killed 64 under-equipped Vietnamese sailors, destroyed and prevented unarmed Vietnamese vessels from saving the injured. The movie has raised a question of criminal charges against the Chinese government, once led by Deng Xiao Ping, for the course of justice. In fact, this defending battle lasted for a few hours at three reefs nearby the island called Sin Cowe, one of the largest islands in the Spratly islands. The Spratly islands locate at a distance of over 1000 km far from the undermost Chinese coast at Hainan island and rightly belong to Vietnam for historical reasons.

2/
In the early months of 1988, the Chinese Navy had landed troops on five reefs and atolls of the Spratly Islands. Three of them lie quite near the large islands that Vietnam owns. The Vietnamese Navy then ferried supplies and equipment to six other reefs and atolls. They successfully gained control of them and prevented the Chinese navy from extending their occupied zone into the other islands. In early March, the High Commander of Vietnamese navy decided to defend other three reefs because they were part of the Spratly Islands and forming an open chain of reefs around the Sin Cowe island that were in control of Vietnam. On March 13th, in the late evening, three Vietnamese transport ships arrived in time at those reefs and set up the flags to represent Vietnams sovereignty over them. However, some hours after the Vietnamese transport ships had reached the target, four large Chinese warships got close to the Vietnamese and switched on the warning loudspeaker. Despite threat from Chinese warships, the Vietnamese transport ships patiently kept anchoring beside the reefs. They were not powerful enough to confront with the Chinese navy and did not want to escalate the conflict. The Chinese were ordered to take an oath before they floated motor-boats with many heavy-armed marines in carrying out the conspiracy to provoke the Vietnamese to break out a war. The Chinese, especially soldiers, are taught that the ocean area of Spratly islands with more than two hundred islands, reefs and atolls belongs to China.

The strain continued until the next morning, when the Chinese mobilized more battle ships, and also more floated motor-boats. They caused more provocations for the battle to break out. By 06:00 am, they suddenly sent 3 aluminium boats that carried about 40 armed marines and rapidly rushed towards the reefs. They landed troops in front of Vietnamese sailor crews and tried to lower the Vietnamese flags that had been already planted into the reef-platform since last evening. Standing on the reefs where the water level covered half of their bodies, the Vietnamese sailors set up commanding positions along the edge of the reefs to lay the defending lines and try to prevent the enemy from advancing forward. They were threatened by the Chinese to retreat from the reefs. This intrusion caused strong reaction from the Vietnamese defenders to hold their flag. They determined to hold on to the reef and keep their flag flying at any cost. Unable to force the Vietnamese to leave the reef, the Chinese marines had to get back to their battle ships. And finally
..............
Just because the Vietnamese navy had refused to withdraw from the reef, the Chinese used battleships for firing with 37-mm anti-aircraft guns directly at the unarmed and light armed Vietnamese sailors on the reefs who were not able to attack them from their defending positions.

President Aquino upbeat on eve of China visit
By Christine O. Avendaño
Philippine Daily Inquirer
1:43 am | Monday, August 29th, 2011

Quote:

As he embarks on his first state visit to China on Tuesday, President Benigno Aquino III said he was confident Manila and Beijing would be able to ease the tensions brought about by their conflicting claims in the West Philippine Sea, and emerge with a more mature relationship, and stronger trade ties.
Meeting visiting Chinese media last Friday, President Aquino likened the conflict between the two countries to that of a married couple.

“(P)erhaps I can use the analogy of a marriage. It is said that there are couples who have been together 50 years and they are still getting to know each other. So, perhaps the conflicts provide an opportunity to have the test that makes for a stronger relationship,” Mr. Aquino said.

“Can we deal with it? Yes. Both sides have said that we would conform to international law…Both countries want to resolve it in a peaceful manner,” he said.
The President said he had always believed that “every problem presents opportunities,” adding that “it is in the interest of both sides to exploit the opportunities that the problem presents.”

“And after coming out with the resolution of that problem, then both parties are stronger for it and even the relationship can be enhanced by it,” he said.
“We want to strengthen bilateral ties,” President Aquino stressed to the Chinese media.

China is the Philippine’s third largest trading partner and the fourth in terms of overseas development assistance.

According to Mr. Aquino’s aides, the two sides could sign during the five-day visit a five-year economic plan that would target $60 billion in trade in 2016, a six-fold increase from 2010.

Assistant Foreign Secretary Cristina Ortega told local reporters one immediate contract might be sealed involving a Chinese car manufacturer investing at least $1.5 billion in the Philippines.

China has also signaled it does not want the maritime tensions to derail a flourishing economic partnership.

Great video Flipzi!

Obviously propaganda but still has some pretty good historical value. This incidents highlights one of many that makes it clear the chinese have no respect for another nations territory.

I would not be surprised if there was a general mindset amongst Chinas elite, even a super-secret guiding document similar to their 5-year plans, that they actually own all of Asia, they just have not laid "formal claim" to it yet.

Bits and pieces over time is their current method. They will not stop at the islands and reefs. It will only be a matter of time before they manage to exert their unwelcome influence over more territories in the future.

I have read some outrageous stories about how China justified invading and stealing Tibet. If they use the same convoluted logic, they will most certainly not stop at these islands, reefs and atolls.

Parts of North Korea would be in jeapordy, Palawan and a few of our northern islands (as a minimum), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and possibly parts of Burma and Thailand. It would not happen in the near or mid term but I could certainly expect that in 50+ years time the forays would continue.

Countries like Indonesia and Malaysia would be forced into a situation not unlike a satellite state in the former USSR.

If we can draw the line and hold the line here and now, we can seriously stymie their efforts and they would be forced to look at more opportune targets.

BEIJING—President Aquino told Chinese President Hu Jintao of his wish that the territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea be settled with a “regional” solution, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda told reporters after the bilateral meeting between the two leaders on Wednesday.

“President Aquino initiated (the discussion on the West Philippine Sea) and he mentioned that we have differences but these differences should not deter us from moving forward. The President also mentioned the position of the Philippine government or the Philippine side, because this is a regional problem, it requires a regional solution,” Lacierda said in a quick briefing outside the Great Hall.

“On the side of the Chinese, they also mentioned that they continue to hold their consistent position that it should be resolved peacefully and they would encourage that the region be developed or the South China Sea be developed as a sea of friendship, peace and cooperation. So both sides were very positive in addressing the issue in the South China Sea,” Lacierda added.

Spratly Islands in the West Philippine Sea is now an area of "friendship and cooperation."

President Benigno Aquino III and Chinese President Hu Jintao agreed during their bilateral meeting on Wednesday to make the Spratly Islands in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) an area of "friendship and cooperation."

From Beijing, GMA News' Kara David also reported on 24 Oras that the two leaders clarified the Spratlys issue should be resolved at the regional level rather than bilaterally, as there are several claimants to the area.

Aquino and President Hu, however, did not discuss specific mechanisms on how to resolve the territorial dispute during their meeting Wednesday, the report added.

Aquino spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said in an earlier interview with the government-run Radyo ng Bayan, “the discussion between the two leaders was very frank but very cordial."

He said Aquino, who is on a four-day state visit to China, initiated the discussion about the Spratlys territorial dispute with his Chinese counterpart.

“[Aquino] mentioned that they had differences, but these differences should not deter us from moving forward. The President also mentioned the position of the Philippine side that this is a regional problem, and it requires a regional solution," Lacierda said.

The Chinese leader, on the other hand, held on to China’s position that the issue should be resolved peacefully, and that Beijing would encourage the development of the South China Sea.

“Both sides were very positive in addressing the issue of the South China Sea," Lacierda said.

He described the meeting as a "moving forward discussion between both countries," but added, “there were no discussions on specific mechanisms."

If Russian has its own Eastern Bloc or Warsaw Pact Alliance in Europe, US has NATO Alliance and then China would have an Asian Alliance Pact with almost all ASEAN joining in like Laos, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and who knows Vietnam and China taking the LEAD....

Ano kaya ang STAND ng Pinas dito? Dapat neutral tayo dito but still on ALERT and strengthen our Military Capability or build an Alliance with South Korea, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.

Hey China! You can't talk peace and have a gun (ika nga ni Francis M.) pointed at the philippines. Thats not cool. First they should stop claiming all part of WPS, only then we can talk peace. :armycheers:

Grit, China does not own Asean. At best they exert a modicum of control over North Korea, Laos and some over Burma.

They have a touch of influence in Thailand and Cambodia.

China will never be able to create a Warsaw Pact or NATO equivalent without some serious efforts involving use of force.

They can have some influence but not on the level that would give them the kind of leverage they need for serious regional policy manipulation.

If the stand is not made, they will push for that goal.

As if on cue:

NEW DELHI (AP) — Indian officials say a naval vessel on a trip to Vietnam has been harassed by China for allegedly violating its waters.

India's foreign ministry said Thursday the INS Airavat was sailing about 45 nautical miles off the coast of Vietnam on July 22 when a caller identifying himself as the Chinese navy made radio contact and told the Indian vessel: "You are entering Chinese waters."

The foreign ministry said no ship or aircraft were visible and that the Airavat continued its journey.

China has grown more assertive — and at times aggressive — in pressing its claims to much of the South China Sea, aided by a buildup of its navy. Chinese ships have rousted fishing vessels from Vietnam and the Philippines, both of which contest China's claims.

China harasses Indian ship in Vietnamese waters

Obviously we are waiting for more facts in this case but if this incident is true then the fears regarding China's extraterritorial claims are warranted.

Kenney wrote candidly about the attitudes of Filipinos towards ethnic Chinese, and said that the ZTE controversy revived "a latent sense among many Filipinos that the Chinese are amoral profiteers."

The fallout from the cancelled deal spilled over to affect the "delicate status quo" in the Spratlys, according to the US cable.

"In the wake of the ZTE scandal, allegations emerged that the Arroyo administration allowed the (Spratlys) seismic exploration deal in exchange for bribe-tainted loans," wrote Kenney wrote.

Citing the intense public criticism, Kenney asserted that "China's use of soft power in the Philippines has given it another bruising lesson in the role of a free press and political opposition in a democracy."

She added, however, that "the current problems are likely a temporary setback for China and the Philippines, as bilateral trade and policy ties continue to rise in concert with the growth in China's economy and influence."
