actually , china has everything to lose if they act violently, their export-dependent economy will grind to a stop plus finally the philippine congress will wake up from their stupidity and finally increase the Armed forces budget to $5 -$10 billion dollars a year. Alam mo naman ang pinoy- they act in the last 2 minutes hehe ..... blessing in disguise. bring it on ! |

Nice thanks for the link Frenzy. Well, ASEAN has no choice but to try harder and keep china away from any access to own the whole WPS. We simply cannot afford to lose it otherwise, the philippines will be f--ked. Because of all the claimants, only the philippines are actually really closer to the spratlys, and are now relying from it's oil/fuel resources. Never mind the rest of the ASEAN as they are already have better economies than the philippines. The US meanwhile should remain faithfull to the philippines no matter what happend. Although the philippines should not really rely heavily to the US military help in case of the worst scenario happens. Filipinos should at the same time look for other military sources as a Plan B in case the US could not provide all the necessary military assets. For now, keep the chinese at the bay, talk about diplomacy and how to strengthen their economies. In short, keep talking about peace while we drill and drill, and while we upgrade our military capabilities. |

I can't agree with you more! The US really have no choice but to help and arm us to the teeth really, us to what Sec. Del Rosario said in order for the US to have another stronger Ally in SE Asia WPA. At the same time a plan B should be in the works as well just in case... |

I dont know if the UN will really react if china sinks one of our ships. Maybe yes or maybe no. We got to remember when the chinese have massacred those 60+ vietnamese, the UN did not really react. Correct me if im wrong. Thanks! |

Maybe yes, maybe no. Well again for me, maybe because the situation then is different from now, because Vietnam and China is still at war at that time called the Third Indochina war that lasts till 1991. The Johnson South reef skirmish in 1988 was considered a short battle/skirmish that includes navy ships from both countries that happened in Spratlys and still connected with the on-going war at that time. The ASEAN and the UN is already involved and has been on the negotiating table already. The situation now is different because there's no on-going war and most probably there are new UN laws that have been added and enacted (which includes UNCLOS which only came to force in 1994) now which were not in force at that time. This is about sovereign claims by few neighboring countries. But then again, I don't have good knowledge of these laws, or if the UN will involve itself if something arises or how Manong Sam will "defend" us. Only time will tell but one thing's for sure, all eyes are on us at this moment, and red lights are on. |
