Navy Seabees constructing 'starshell' on Patag Island

Quote:

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Navy (PN) is about to finish construction of a second star shell-like structure on Patag Island in the Spratlys, which is intended to shelter and protect troops guarding and securing the country’s maritime domain in the hotly-contested West Philippine Sea from inclement weather.

At present, a 25-man strong Seabees groups headed by Lt. Armelito Alcazar are still in Patag Island building the structure, using pre-fabricated materials brought in by the Navy’s BRP Laguna (LT 501) from Cavite.

Great initiative. I wonder how long they been there anyway before they begun constructing the shelter...?

Good job Navy :thumb:

And let's not stop on Patag Is. Starshell structures should be constructed on all islets, shoals & reefs within our territory in the Spratlys before China could establish their own like in Mischief Reef and recently, the attempt on Sabina Shoal.

hello guys suggestion lng to ha...

Phil. Navy..

purchase or build our own patrol craft and corvettes that are well armed (anti-aircraft, anti-ship, ASW, minesweeping) rather than purchase frigates.. also build mobile anti-ship batteries in palawan (sea skua, sea sparrow) or cruise missile and radars parang missile defense system version ng europe but lesser sophistacated.. sonar buoys and magnetometer buoys to detect subs for defense anti-subs corvettes and upgrade our huey's or purchase lynx for ASW or armed it with sea skua.. we can also purchase midget subs from sweden or north korea.. lol.. improve our mobility and transfer of troops for faster reaction by purchasing catamaran or other classes of LST.. build hospital ships, lifting capabilities must also improve by building it.. i think we can tap hanjin shipbuilding in subic. we can also leased ships from europe or US such as frigates and others..

phil. airforce..

purchase anti-aircraft system such as S300, PAC3, SAM, ARROW added with advance radar system for passive defense.. it is much more cheaper to operate and maintain.. for active defense maybe some F-16 or F-18 much better.. for transport we can purchase or lease commercial planes such A320 or other planes this are for long distance travel such as manila to davao for short distance we could purchase or lease heavy-lift chopper such as Mil, supre puma, chinook, and others.. we also to increase our huey's or purhase other twin engine choppers.. for attack choppers we can upgrade our huey's or purchase HIND or cobra if we have enough budget.. we also need to increase our night capabilities.. and for maritime patrol we can have P3, and other makers we can also increase this by making indigenous UAV and USV.

Phil. army

improve our transportation of troops, troop protection, communication, weaponry and others. transportation purchase and locally built trucks, MRAP, and M35A2. we have many auto assembler. troop protection kevlar helmet, improved outer tactical vest. enhance military communication devices. upgrade the M14, put instorage the m16 or upgrade them. we need to look for better weapon such as FN SCAR, M4, FAMAS bullpup, TAR-21, L85A1, G36.. for our reserve maybe use upgraded Ak-47, for the paramilitary maybe the m14 rather than the M16.. self propelled artillery, light tanks, Armed or non-armed APC's, MRAP-MATV, and many more..

anu sa tingin nyo??

I WONDER how much rental payments the Sultan of Sulu is actually receiving from the government of Malaysia? Whatever it is, it has to be broadcasted all over the world to prove and educate all of us that Sabah is actually belongs to the philippines! Bulls--t.

Man that's life for you comrade god only knows how much money and other question so many people claiming to be sultan are the Malaysians really paying the right man? Anyway we should ignore it and also the MILF DEMAND for us to stop oil explorations in Palawan and Sulu Sea. The Government should screw that to hell but oddly they haven't replay yet why not just say no way.

China lashes out at Manila over island claims
(philstar.com) Updated August 02, 2011 04:47 PM Comments (3)

BEIJING (AP) - An official Chinese newspaper said the Philippines isn't sincere in wanting to resolve South China Sea territorial disputes and warns of unspecified consequences if China's concerns are ignored.

The ruling Communist Party's flagship People's Daily said recent construction work on an island claimed by the Philippines violates the spirit of a preliminary plan reached late last month to resolve territorial disputes in the potentially resource-rich South China Sea.

The paper said in a signed editorial Tuesday that that shows Philippines lacks sincerity to resolve disputes. It said China won't sit idly by while its territory is swallowed up by others.

China claims the South China Sea and all its islands as its territory.
