The whole ASEAN neighbors are really serious and fast in improving their respective ARMED Forces becuase its very important for them, but the Philippine politics and top brass until now cannot find that reason why we need to modernize and improve our Armed forces badly or ASAP.

Maybe this is one of the REASON why most ASEAN are trying to improve and modernize their ARMED FORCES as fast as they can...

China seen as threat to global stability
15 April 2008

LONDON - Europeans see China as a bigger threat to global stability than the United States, Iran or North Korea, according to a poll published Tuesday.

The Harris survey for the Financial Times showed that an average of 35 percent of voters in Britain, France, Germany, Spain and Italy saw China as the biggest threat to global stability, compared to 29 percent who thought the same of the United States.

In Italy, 47 percent of voters named China as the biggest threat, up from 26 percent in a similar poll last year.

Meanwhile, 36 percent of French voters thought the same of China, up from 22 percent last year, compared with 35 percent of Germans who saw China as the biggest threat to stability, from 18 percent in 2007.

Some 27 percent of British voters also China as the biggest threat, from 16 percent last year.

Only in Spain was the United States regarded as a bigger threat than China, by a 41 percent to 28 percent margin.

Harris questioned a total of 5,381 voters in Britain (1,122), France (1,114), Germany (1,028), Spain (1,012) and Italy (1,105) between March 27 and April 8 for the

We should be careful but we have a precedent to follow. Look at the Finns, they have a military whose hardware was inferior to the russians, germans and even the swedes. But they have a sound military doctrine and all the traits that made the israeli army successfull later on. WILL, INGENUITY, COURAGE, TENACITY and COHESIVENESS.

Sure they lose the winter war but it make the russians realize that they will never surrender and allowed finland to survive as an independent nation. The Government and the Military are Cohesive such that they complement each other instead of putting each other down. Ingenuity? they make magic of of the unreliable brewster buffalo fighters

Well all of you should look at the bright side- if all our wars were fought with music instead of weaponry, the Mainland Chinese would surely lose because of singers like the girl in the link below:

Watch this video and you will hear why you don't need to know Mandarin Chinese to figure out that this is the WORST singer I have ever heard:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWNdmp-duF4 (ZAO GAO A!)

And a close runner-up for the worst- a guy trying to mumble the English song "Amazing Grace":

Jokes aside, does anyone here know if the PLAN has already had all their Kilo class submarines delivered?

the u.s mutual defense treaty includes any military ships, aircraft being attacked in the pacific, so it includes if proven that if the trainer jets on patrol where indeed shot down that is enough requirement of the treaty for the u.s. to come in aid.

though having a plenty of sa-70, manportable javelin and sniper barret rifles is enough to have china to think twice of occupying us, cause the guerilla warfare of today would be more bloody than of vietnam.

China builds major nuclear submarine base on Hainan island - report
LONDON, May 02, 2008 (XFN-ASIA via COMTEX) -- By Staff Reporter

China has built a major underground nuclear submarine base on the southern tip of Hainan island, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The newspaper said Jane's Intelligence Review, a respected defence periodical, obtained satellite images of the base, adding that the photos were the first confirmation of its existence.

"Satellite imagery, passed to The Daily Telegraph, shows that a substantial harbour has been built which could house a score of nuclear ballistic missile submarines and a host of aircraft carriers," it said.

According to the Telegraph, which published multiple satellite photos, one image shows a Chinese 094 nuclear submarine at the base.

Others show several warships moored on long jetties as well as numerous entrances to what appear to be a network of tunnels.

There are reportedly 11 tunnel openings at the base, with each entrance, carved into the hill-side, stretching to a height of about 60 feet.
