Reading the current news on the disputed island and China being the big bad bully. Philippines can solve it, by warming it's military relations with Russia. US are being slow to helped it's long time ally. Russia are very willing to sell it's advance missiles, aircraft, and ships as long as you have the money. Philippines need to get a military loan with Russia like Vietnam did. Philippines problem with China bullying can be solved by missiles and radars. Philippines are strategically located in that vital west Philippine sea / south china sea. Philippines need to have a squadron or 2 of multirole aircraft like Su-27 mig-29 to intercept and warn the incoming ship or aircraft that if they don't change their bearing they will be lit up like a firecracker. Philippines don't need to get advance aircraft or ships the missiles will create the umbrella protection for your aircrafts, ships, troops and territory. Ships and aircrafts are expensive to upkeep most missiles are sealed and no maintenance needed. All I'm saying is that having a small navy, army and air force is credible enough if Philippines wake up from the stone age and buys advance missiles to use as a force multiplier. Russia are countering the US high tech planes and huge navy with guest what Pinoys " MISSILES ". Russian missiles I hope Philippines will acquire are the new advance scud missiles( longer range for high priority targets) P-800 yakhont for those Chinesse frigates or destroyers,S-400 Triumf, S-300 both for air defense and serve as umbrella or shield against any missiles and aircraft. These land base missiles should be complemented with mobile security consisting of the Tunguska, Tor or Pantsir to serve for low level attack and serve as back up. |

I mostly agree here. Don't agree with the SU 27 or Mig 29 though. SU-27 is going to be phased out soon and Mig-29 has horrendous issues with maintenance and supplies. If we are going to get Russian MRFs it has to be SU-30 based on MKI or even SU-35 w/c China does not have and Russia hessitant to sell it to them. Of course getting Russian MRFs in the near future means we should be getting Yak-130s first. Then there's the Amur-class subs and ASW Corvettes from Russia. |

Ya not a bad plan first we can ask the Russians to give us loans just like South Korea then we can ask to be hub for their military/civilian hardware along with the South Koreans/American/Israel/Czech Republic/Italy/France/Spain and others joint venture with Government(if Still Existing) and Private Companies and Corporations to be a hub for Southeast Asia this will create jobs for our Small Arms/Shipbuilding/Automobile/Aerospace Industries adding more economic boom for us and also solve our logistic support problems and our equipment problem many of us have advocating for this in a long time in past topics but it may take 10 to 20 years to build on this and it would depend on /Political/ Will the/ People support / the national leadership and the AFP to make it happen. Just hope its not too late.

It's truly great that the business relationship between our two countries is continuously improving as years go by. However, this latest offer from your side, the T-90MS main battle tank, does not seem to fit our current and even our future requirements. People su-30 are upgraded Su-27 and also China's new J-11 are Su-27. Russia just change the aircraft number designation instead of putting letters like the Us when they upgrade there aircrafts. Philippine military generals and admirals are not educating the President or the congress what they really need to have a credible external force that or they are stuck on fighting insurgents. Philippines getting bunch of coastguard ships are like buying a pistol to go to war. You want a battle rifle to take to war as your primary weapon so you can reach out farther and put down the bad guys. Philippines need to develop a credible missile defense first before acquiring ships and aircrafts because they are expensive to upkeep. Having what you guys have now and credible missile defense umbrella can protect your sovereign islands and forces. Us and Israel are scared shitless of Iran getting a hold of S-300 can you imagine China when Philippines deploy hundreds of these all over the Islands specially Batanes closer to them. Philippines really need to look at India Mig-21 Bison if they really need to go to a cheaper route but pose a credible aircraft. India's Mig-21 bison are ugraded with Israel radar jamming pods were able to put down advance us F-15 and F-16 during the Indian-US war exercise. Us pilots were surprised that mig 21 were invisible through there radars. |

You must be joking brother. Do you seriously wanna buy Indian Mig21s a.k.a. flying coffins that we desperately want to get rid of? No doubt these Migs served us well but they are well past their service life and should have been retired 10-15 years ago. Phils must invest in new airtcrafts that can serve you next 20-30 years. |

Indian air force Mig-21 Bison won't be phased out until 2020. They we're so proud of there Su-30 MK during the war exercise because of the aircraft trust vectoring capability but the US F-15 pilots already know how to defeat these type of aircraft learning from the F-22. The Us pilots are more impressed of the older aircraft Mig-21 capability to sneak out of no where because there radar jamming pod. I only suggest the Mig-21 bison because they are cheap and already proven to beat current Us fighters and easily defeat what you guys are suggesting here like T/A 50, yak these aircraft are trainer aircraft. |

Mig 21's are crap Buying Russian may not be what we really want. Chat with some of our neighbors and see how they feels about their purchases before we hope in bed with Ivan. Keep in mind, China spends alot more money on Russian weaponry than we do and the chances of the Chinese convincing certain personalities in the russian defence industry to "modify" our contract vehicles or the actual equipment is high. Don't say it can't or won't happen because similar crap has happened in the past between other players. If you are referring to the big frenzy that occurred about 6 years ago or so regarding the US F-15's being shot down by the Mig-21's, I am fairly certain there is a lot more to the story than what was parroted in the press. Find your own american fighter pilot to tell you the real story. If you take the time to go down to Edwin Andrews and Camp Navarro in Zamboanga, I bet you can find a american fighter pilot on liaison duty who might know the back story and even be willing to share pertinent details with you. |

Tell that to China who Copied and produce 2,400 J-7 (mig-21) and still active fighter in it's air force and other 22 countries that make these aircraft as there frontline fighter aircraft. Mig-21 is the reason why US started Fighter School known to be top gun. All I'm saying is there are other proven aircraft out there for Philippines that are affordable to choose from. Stop suggesting trainer aircrafts because that's all the types of aircrafts you guys have right now, s-211, sf-260. China really are kicking you guys out of the Scarborough shoal. The bad thing about it, is that most of your government officials are telling people to be quiet specially your vice president. I almost ewwww my pants, instead of deploying all your 8 PKM's and 12 Andrada gun boats to let them know that you guys are ready to defend your islands instead you guys deployed one coastguard ship. China are testing Philippines how hard they can start taking islands from you guys. You guys failed I won't be surprise they will invade Batanes next because of it's proximity to Taiwan. My suggestion is that use this example to dramatically increase your defense budget up to 10 percent of your GDP. I think Philippines can afford 2 brand new advance squadron of F-16 and 1 squadron of older F-16 for training and familiarization of your pilots. I am disappointed of US being slow to approve the F-16 request of your President, and I know US won't sell Philippines more advance missiles,subs and F-15 because they will say that balance of power bull crap in the region will make Philippines stronger and less dependent to them. Philippines can make itself the most powerful country in South East Asia without limits if they choose Russian Weapons. Philippines having 2 kilo submarines lurking and performing sabotage making South china sea the new Bermuda triangle where chinesse ships all sudden disappear will put fear of any country venturing towards your territory. |
