Why buy Eastern or Russian weapons why not buy Singaporeans or South Koreans. Its compatible with what we currently have now ( Western ) it cultivates closer military and economic ties with another Asian country. Maybe not the cheapest but probably of better quality than east bloc weapons.

My wishlist for Russian Hardware?
Tanks: BMP30 tank looks good but at 30+ tons can this cross long bridges. I know it is amphibous but how deep can it ford and for how long.

Aircraft: Hind Helicopters would be very good for the airforce and army.
Su-35 looks good lot cheaper than the F-16

Never heard of a BMP-30 tank :dunno:

But there is a BMP-3 IFV. It is amphibious, weights about 18 tons, armed with a 100mm main gun along with a 30 mm cannon and a 7.62 machinegun. Basic model has about 35mm of armor. Its able to carry 7 troops (+3 crew).

Heres another BMP type vehicle. The interesting thing about it is that its developed from the chasis of a T-72 or T-55.

Last point:

Su-35 35 million USD per plane
F-16 25 million USD per plane

NOTE: Cost of new plane

Im a supporter of the BMP-3 IFV for the AFP before... After seeing a clip of it firing its main gun, masyado mausok... The clip shows the IFV dug in and used as an artillery piece in Checnia.

If we have the russian 100mm replaced with a 90mm, and work out the visibility problem [smokiness when it fires]... Lets issue it to all the divisions, atleast isa brigade of the div has these and they might sare the same ammo with the V-300s.

with the Democrats, supportive of the Communists and Islamofascists in this country, cutting US military and police aid to the Philippines by 2/3, it is high time for us to consider Russian hardware. we will not get anything from the Americans as long as the Democrats are in power.

:agree: The US maybe the world's number one arms provider but Russian arms sales in Asia are MORE THAN DOUBLE those of America.

If the other Asian countries are buying, why not us?

Bec thay are threating us of this.Ive read an article in an newspaper telling this The goverment want to buy russian products but the americans are treating to stop it military aid to the Phil.I am not sure of this but i think its true. What do you think is it possible that the americans are treating us to stop their aid if we buy to russians products

Zero Wing,

The M109A5/A6 Paladin IS NOT A TANK!!! It's a self-propelled artillery platform!!!

The Philippine Army needs new artillery, but they don't have to be Paladins when you can get similar self-propelled guns like the just as effective M110, used by many countries such as South Korea.

Epigone,

You're really are paranoid, man! You blame the Liberals for everything! And Liberals/Democrats are NOT the same thing as Commies!

Just because someone is pro-union does not make them a commie, so how can unions be commies if they just want better wages? If they rebelled, they would be destroying the source of their income! Also, just because someone wants to regulate business does not mean they want to get rid of it altogether. That's why the US has such a burgeoning economy but regulates it with laws like anti-trust laws! Look at Clinton and how he encouraged trade with China- and now China is more capitalist than communist now since the CCP is accepting more entrepreneurs into its ranks! hehehe...

In the same way that you see govt. agencies as subject to corruption, so are giant Corporate Conglomerates- they are NOT infallible! Liberals believe in rights, not privilieges... and some of the most versatile American Liberals in history were also staunchly anti-communist, such as US Presidents FDR, Harry Truman and JFK.

While the politics of the Philippines are not as polarized as in they are the US and Canada, I think some of what I said still applies...

Being Liberal is not being left- it is about a balance. I'll leave it to you to figure out this last sentence I said.

You're really PARANOID, Epigone...now please take your political rants to the Politics thread or elsewhere!

Ewann...the quality of the postings at PDFF is starting to go down with political ranters like this guy and amateurs who post like one sentence just to voice agreement or whatever in barely understandable English...
