The Russian equipment that I want our AFP to consider would be that Yak designed strike aircraft. It would be a good replacement for our S.211s. Another item that would be great to have would be the MTLB. Just like our M113s. |

Command is about authority, about appointment to a position. Effective leadership is different. It must be learned and practiced in order for it to rise to the level of art. You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment but you cannot lead without it; and without leadership, command is a hollow experience. .. a vacuum often filled with mistrust and ignorance. ^^ Because most of the countries you mentioned above make weapons they cloned from the Russians. So its better to buy directly from the original manufacturer although I would say that the Polish improved derivatives are as good or better than the Russian originals. |

i agree sir dancing fire! also, for example, these russians has also developed a new improved RPG that can defeat tanks with improved armor, no other nation has ever copied it yet, even their new shoulder-fired SAMs is more effective than the older typed as well as the copies of other ex-warsaw-pact states and even china and north korea...... also, its a win-win solution because we also help the russian economy as well as good diplomatic relationship with russia. its not bad to do trade with them, they're not our enemy now, the cold-war is over... |

That's too heavy and not practical for our environment. IMHO, the Stryker (LAV-25) would be a more practical solution. It's very modular and it can handle the roughest terrain. http://www.army.mil/features/stryker/default.htm |

but the cost... the stryker is too expensive, better buy more LAV-300s than buy 1 or 2 stryker units... |

Yeah, Good point. So what if Uncle Sam's defense industries are upset if the AFP doesn't consider US equipment. Why buy overpriced toys when you can buy similar equipment at bargain prices that can do the same job. The Malaysians and the Cubans are pretty happy with their MiG29s. As are the Indians with their Su30s. So are most of the former East bloc nations who are using Russian equipment or their own copies of those equipment lines. |

We should also focus on Russian air- and costal defense missile systems and mobile radar systems.Imagine e.g. the Pag-asa island with at least 3 medium-ranged SAM systems and anti ship batteries... Modernizing our navanl vessels with Russian missiles would also be a good start. We have old ships but the platform really doesn't matter--it's the equipment and weapons that count ;-)
