That would be the patrol ships: the single Cyclone-class, the 3 Peacock-class, the 6 PKMs, the ? Andrada-class, Halter-class, etc. The patrol ships are all quite new. It is the large ships that are WW2 vintage. More info @ Manokski's AFP Orbat |
| You may have superior weaponry, but you're out of ammo, and I've still got plenty of rocks. | |

Hi! I checked on the internet lang po, and it turns out... the 24-meter Andrada class patrol craft ARE the 'Halter Marine' vessels. (We all make mistakes from time to time, meself especially! :) ) The Andrada class boats were ordered/locally built from 1989 to the mid-90's. BTW, Halter Marine went under soon after the Andrada's were built, and was eventually purchased from its parent company by Singapore Technology Engineering in 2002. The 33-meter Batillo class (SoKor PKM's) were built in the mid-80's at the latest, refitted in 1995. The 25-meter Yap class (SoKor SK's) are even older, said to be built in the very late 70's, and cleaned up just prior to their gifting to PN. The 62-meter Jacinto (Peacock) class corvettes were built in 1984-1985, but I really don't know what condition they're in today. Does anybody have news? Are they all seaworthy? The 55-meter Alvarez (Cyclone) class patrol craft was buiilt 1991-1992, so technically.... it's older than some of the Andrada boats ---though the Alvarez was thoroughly overhauled in 2003 prior to its transfer to the PN. I think the newest boats in the PN might be the 2-3 speedboats captured from the Abu Sayyaf. I hear those sport boats can rip about 50 knots....but that's really only rumor, and I'd love real information on it. :) horge |

The Franks S. Besson LSVs were delivered in 1993, 1994 built brand new. In 2002, the PN received its 7th brand new LCU (more on the way). about the CB-90, i heard that one is not brand new its the one that was used in trials, most likely from Malaysia (which license build it) and taken to PN by Dockstravert for trails and demonstrations, this CB-90 will be ready for transfer immidately upon completion of negotiations while the other 3 are the new builds. horge:
1 is operationally ready, the other 2 are docked and being cannibalized, to keep the other working. the DND approved the overhaul/refurbishment/upgrade of the 3. NO MISSILES. just spares support , repairs, overhaul of the engine, 76mm gun, upgrade of the radars and other equipment. putting a new 25mm gun. the only one working is still being used while one of the 2 ships used as spares hull are currently undergoing the overhaul. most likely the other non-operational will undergo the overhauls after the first ship and the working example will be the last to be overhauled, i could be wrong. again NO MISSILES!!! the objective of these upgrades is to make all 3 fully operational. |
