In my military career I have met outstanding officers, all graduates of SAFTI. All of them have impressed me with their intelligence, warmth and humility with just a tint of pride being a member of a proud service.

Of course :thumb:

BTW, you people here are so thin-skinned, go to other international forums and you can see several heated exchanges but no one makes a big deal out of 'em...

Inntelligence, warmth and humility,.... i dont see that in you. :dunno:

You, Flashbang is the exact opposite!

That's why it is not warmth that you'll get but heat!

We aren't thin-skinned.

:exactly:

It's just that you seemed to be thinking as if your brain is just under your skin .... that's why you're seeing all these that thin.

I think sirs there is no need to fight over opinions although I agree that some of the Singaporeans who are here are not very gentlemen or low-key in voicing out their opinions.

And to the topic about PMA ayers the cause I don't think so, there are always bad eggs and scalawags anywhere but here are also many who work silently and honestly without great fanfare.

PMA's CADET's HONOR CODE IS FAR MOST HONORABLE THAN WHAT NPA's PROFESS. NPA's honor code: extort food from the peasants, intimidate the peasant's to hand in over his cattle, extort hard earned money from companies. Worse than theft! etc etc

They are not the cause of trouble. The fact that critics demand that the PMA be extinct on those grounds put forth only shows the fallacy of their arguments. How can you abolish a well-entrenched institution? Reform but not abolish.

I think the institution molds men to be good leaders, but the man has the choice on what they become. Let's take the case of Generals Carlos Garcia (Class '71), Jacinto Ligot (Class '70). They took arms against the government in the late 1980's allegedly to reform the ills of the nation, which includes graft and corruption. However, when they became flag-officers and comptrollers, they them selves were accused of corruption.

On the other hand, look at the case of Lt. Col. Alexander Balutan (Class '83), he is living in a military quarters with his family of 7, his children study in public schools and he tries to live on his salary.

The institution would equip men with knowledge and skills, but it is the choice of the men on how to use this knowledge and skills.

It's very unfair to make a generalization
