India inks deal for Apache, Chinook helicopters
Boeing says India has signed a contract for the purchase of Chinook heavy-lift helicopters and Apache attack helicopters

By Richard Tomkins | Sept. 30, 2015 at 7:05 AM

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- India's Ministry of Defense has finalized a commercial direct sales order with Boeing for production, training and support of Apache and Chinook helicopters.

Under the order, India is to receive 22 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and 15 CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopters, Boeing said.

The order for the Apaches, however, did not include engines, Apache engines, weaponry and radar, which will come under a U.S. Foreign Military Sales deal, according to the Indian publication Business Standard.

ATLANTA — India has awarded a contract to Longbow LLC, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, for fire control radar systems with advanced air and ground targeting capabilities for the country's AH-64E Apache attack helicopters.

The firm-fixed price, undefinitized foreign military sales contract comes to $57.1 million but could be worth up to $116.7 million, according to a statement released Saturday at the Aviation Association of America's Mission Solutions Summit.

The contract buys 12 Longbow FCR systems for the Indian Air Force and spares and production will last through early 2019.

NEW DELHI ― The Indian government this week cleared long-pending deals for six Boeing Apache attack helicopters and two Zorya marine engines from Ukraine.

The two projects were cleared by the Defence Acquisition Council, which is headed by Defence Minister Arun Jaitley. Formal contracts will be awarded in the next four to six months, a Ministry of Defence official said.

Under the deal, the Indian Army will acquire six Apache attack helicopters for about $650 million. They will be equipped with Hellfire and Stinger missiles.

India seeks $930 million worth of weapons and gear for Apaches
By: Aaron Mehta   8 hours ago

WASHINGTON ― The U.S. State Department has approved a potential sale of weapons and support equipment for India’s proposed procurement of six AH-64E Apache helicopters.

The proposed package, which would be done as a Direct Commercial Sale as opposed to a Foreign Military Sale, has an estimated cost of $930 million. Estimated costs and quantities of items can change during negotiations, and approval by the State Department is not a guarantee the sale will be completed.
