Chinese ships spotted in PAF overflight of Scarborough Shoal -- DND chief Philippines News Agency MANILA, Sept. 4 (PNA) -- An overflight by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Saturday revealed that there are at least 10 Chinese ships near Scarborough Shoal (also known as Bajo De Masinloc) which lies 123 miles west of Subic Bay, Zambales. ... "No dredging work have been seen. However, the presence of so many ships, other than Coast Guard, in the area is cause for grave concern. The Department of Foreign Affairs already has called the attention of the Chinese Ambassador and demanded explanation," Lorenzana added. ... "We don't know yet if those barges are precursors of future dredging operations but let us not forget that early this year they actually tried to bring dredging barges but were dissuaded by the US. If they try to construct anything in Scarborough (Shoal) it will have far reaching adverse effect on the security situation in the West Philippine Sea," he added.

The 'nerve' of these Chinese. It's a dangerous play. Why? - The current Philippine president's unpredictability and resolve to get things done. I don't like him, but why do I get the feeling that this president will not back down? - He's tenacious as a badger and does things unconventionally. - He's fiery temperament when he get's pushed. Are the Chinese going a step to far with this one? - I fear, yes. - This president doesn't like to be told what to do. Especially by them Yanquis. - I don't think that pansy Obama can throw a leash on him, more so even try to put one on him. Or maybe his 'big talk', bravado, and chest thumping will scare the Chinese altogether. Scary thing is (I shamelessly admit) that I don't want to be wrong on this one. @hong, We'll see what happens after the ASEAN Meeting... If you ask me, my feeling is 50/50, half posturing all talk on Foreign Policy, but deep inside.. don't want to say it.. or Half a true Pro-Filipino Unconventional Statesman, that we'll soon see the living daylight of the Philippines, slowly standing on it's own. Depende sa gusto niya, at sa pag suyo sa kaniya, wala kasing choice ang kano ngayon kung hindi ito.. Kalabas labasan niyan baka tayo bigla maging spoiled Pit Bull ng US, like an Attack Dog. @news_man, If they don't back down and the US calls their bluff, they will surely lose half of their PLAN, maybe more.. It's US face against China's face and Who ever is stronger than the two wins... The Beijing is playing a dangerous game that they can't win right now, no matter what... After humiliating POTUS, he may brushed off the issue On Cam, but Off Cam, expect some retaliation.. Maybe by way of using International law+Force. Re: Puting Missile and firing at anybody.. Take Cover Philippines and use those Corrupt n selfish Politikos as your shield.PNoy is the one to be blamed for all of these issues, hence if he only instructed PF-15 to standground and apply Navy Protocol like the way the recent US Warship firing warning shots at Iranian Patrol Boats.. Edited by Andres Boning, Sep 5 2016, 09:27 PM.

Yup, I thought about this before, it seems they have the same plans if push come to shove. Using Container and tanker ships and installing some Missile Batteries and MGs etc. We can do this one as well to guard Scarborough Shoal, with Attack Helicopters docked on deck, actually kahit naka deploy lang sa Zambales Area eh aabot ang HIMARS at sobra pa, para di sila makalapit sa Scarborough Shoal. The Philippines needs to acquire these HIMARS with AA Missile defence systems to protect them. PH needs to invest on Air Power, MRFs AH's to be able to repel China.
