NOLCOM keeping close eye on Panatag
By: Jaime Sinapit, InterAksyon.com

MANILA, Philippines -- The military’s Northern Luzon Command is keeping close watch on Panatag (Scarborough Shoal) amid concerns triggered by US claims that China intends to construct structures in the disputed territory off the coast of Zambales.

Speaking at a summit of defense chiefs in Singapore Saturday, US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter warned of “actions being taken” over any Chinese construction on the shoal even as he urged stronger bilateral security cooperation between the two powers to prevent any mishap.

“Our naval and air assets have regular patrols (over) Benham Rise in the east (of Luzon) and Panatag Shoal in the west. What assets I have right now, (I) use them for monitoring, search-and-rescue and interdiction operations,” General Romeo Tanalgo, Nolcom chief, said.

Last 12th June 2016 a group of courageous and patriotic Filipino youth traveled to Bajo de Masinloc (also known as Panatag Shoal, and Scarborough Shoal) The intrepid youths tried to plant the Philippine Flag at one of the rocks of the shoal, however the China Coast Guard harassed and stop them at the entrance of the shoal.

HOW TO GO TO MASINLOC, ZAMBALES:

BY PRIVATE CAR:

1. Manila to NLEX
2. NLEX to SCTEX
3. Take the Subic/Olongapo exit in SCTEX.
4. Then straight ahead to Castillejos.
5. Just drive straight from Castillejos. You will pass through about 6 municipalities ( San Antonio – San Narciso – San Felipe – Cabangan – Botolan – Iba) before Masinloc.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION :

First Option: Take the Victory Liner Bus in Monumento going to Sta. Cruz Zambales. The bus will pass through Masinloc.
Second Option: Ride any bus going to Olongapo. From Olongapo Terminal, ride a UV Express going to Sta. Cruz Zambales. Again, it will pass through Masinloc.

MANILA - The Philippines should not flaunt its landmark victory in international court and instead focus on convincing China to allow unimpeded access to fishing in the Scarborough Shoal, Manila's former envoy to the United Nations said Friday.

Still?

Just two days after the decision, Chinese coast guard blocked Filipino fishermen from entering Scarborough Shoal, which China has held since the end of a naval standoff in 2012.

==========

What are you going to do now Mr. Pres. Duterte?!!! Show the Filipinos what you got!!! Acquire some formidable (interim) "Battle Ready" assets for our Armed Forces Now ASAP!
Instead of trying to kill your fellow Filipino citizen, who may still have a chance to turn their lives around, just try to show your toughness to China!
Your Govt. won't be able to secure and protect the Country's interests, the Filipino People from External Threats, firm and respected Foreign Policy etc. without having a formidable Armed Forces.

Duterte: Intel report shows China may be building structures in Panatag
September 2, 2016

By TRISHA MACAS - GMA News

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he has received intelligence reports showing China may be building structures in the disputed Panatag Shoal (Scarborough Shoal).

In a speech delivered at the inauguration of the Davao International Container Terminal in Davao del Norte, Duterte said the Philippine Coast Guard saw barges coming in the area also referred to as Bajo de Masinloc.

At a press conference after his speech, Duterte said he will ask China to confirm if there are really expansion activities in the West Philippine Sea.
