China state paper warns of war over South China Sea unless U.S. backs down
Reuters - Mon, 25 May 2015

BEIJING, May 25 (Reuters) - A Chinese state-owned newspaper said on Monday that "war is inevitable" between China and the United States over the South China Sea unless Washington stops demanding Beijing halt the building of artificial islands in the disputed waterway.

The Global Times, an influential nationalist tabloid owned by the ruling Communist Party's official newspaper the People's Daily, said in an editorial that China was determined to finish its construction work, calling it the country's "most important bottom line".

China should "carefully prepare" for the possibility of a conflict with the United States, the newspaper said.

So are we seeing a Falkland war type scenario?
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

no Falkland war here as there will be no troops to bring but just loads of bombs to destroy the man-made island...

Artificial island bases like those are only good in peacetime to assert their military/paramilitary influence. In this day and age... They can kiss them goodbye as soon as the shooting starts. No water, no food, nowhere to hide, nowhere to run. Not taking to account what the tropical and salt environment which wreaks havoc on maintenance.

These are unlike the wartime Japanese island bases like Truk, Rabaul, Saipan, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa (just to name a few) which had natural features and terrain which made defences formidable. Just hope the Chinese don't realise it.

IMO, China has something up it's sleeves, for them to act tough, which they always do, using their favorite govt. mouthpiece.

The only solid threat that I see for the US coming from China, (setting aside the use of nukes), is their ability to shoot down satellites in outer space, which they clearly demonstrated before.. Let's hope that the US got that covered already.
Almost majority of the US Armed Forces state of th art modern equipments relies on satellite, if I'm not mistaken.. :dunno:

If a shooting war breaksout in WPS/ SCS, it will just be a limited skirmish showdown, I hope...
But for sure and I bet my house on it, if China PLAN and PLAAF sends 40-60% their forces to attack, they will be reduced, indefinitely.

PH side:
Wow! What's up with PNoy's Govt. AFP/DND preparations, contingencies etc. in case This^ happens??? "Naka taas pa rin mga paa at pa haya hayahay lang..?"

-Bnew Frigates?
-up arming the rest of the PN fleet with AA/ AS Missiles?
-acquiring short range mobile land based ballistic, anti air missiles??

Kawawa tayo mga Filipino if there will be series of unforseen, unfortunate events to unfold because they haven't done anything to prepare... :headbang:

Hindi pwedeng hindi natin tulungan ang US at iba pang allies kapag nagkataon ito...

We also need to worry and be cautious about our nearby neighbors like Malaysia and Cambodia, for they might spoil the game as well...

MANILA -- Malacanang on Wednesday said the Philippines is not solely relying on the United States as it faces China's growing assertion over its claims in the disputed West Philippine Sea.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Philippines has always stood on its own in defending its territory in the disputed waters and in resolving the issue with China.

Pentagon chief urges end to island-building in South China Sea

By David Alexander

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter called on Wednesday for a halt to island-building by China and other parties in the South China Sea and an end to militarization of the territorial disputes in the region.

Carter said the United States would be the principal security power in the region for decades to come, and that the U.S. military's airplanes and warships would continue to operate in the region wherever permitted under international law.

His remarks at a military ceremony in Hawaii came just a week after the U.S. Navy sent a P-8 reconnaissance plane carrying Navy and television camera crews to film Chinese island-building activity in the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

Carter: China Isolating Itself in Pacific

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR, Honolulu – US Defense Secretary Ash Carter warned China Wednesday that attempts to expand its influence in the South China Sea will ultimately lead to isolation for the Pacific power.

Speaking in Honolulu at the change of command for US Pacific Command, Carter reaffirmed that the US does not respect Chinese attempts to broaden their sovereign territory through the development of man-made islands in the region.

China has claimed those lands, which the Pentagon estimates to be about 2,000 acres in size, as part of its territory, a move other nations in the region believe is a power grab to increase its control of the region. About 1,500 of those acres have been developed since January, showing the rapid acceleration of China's activities.

China Warns Of World War 3 Unless The US Backs Down On South China Sea
Posted By: Vikas Shukla
May 28, 2015

An increasingly assertive China has warned that World War 3 is "inevitable" unless the United States stops meddling in the South China Sea affairs. Earlier this week, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) said in a new white paperwhite paper that it is going to up the ante in the South China Sea. In a sign of its growing self-confidence, Beijing said that it would now focus less on defensive capabilities, and step up efforts to build offensive capabilities.

China ready to use force beyond its borders

The Chinese military's new white paper notes that it is ready to use force beyond its borders in the air and at sea "to safeguard its maritime possessions." Global Times, a mouthpiece of the Communist Party, said that China does not want a war. But if the United States' bottom line was to make China halt its activities, then a World War 3 was inevitable.

U.S. interference could trigger a World War 3

The newspaper suggests that China will not stop construction of these artificial islands at any cost. Any more interference by "external countries" could trigger a World War 3 and Beijing will "accept" it. Experts say neither United States nor China wants to back down. They fear that even a minor incident around the artificial islands could escalate rapidly into a full-fledged war.

^Why are they so afraid now??? :gatling: :crawling:

The US promises that it will sting just a little bit... :armyLol:

Now they are afraid and very much afraid of losing, because they know that it's a no win situation for them and they know that the only way out is to threaten the World of a possible WW3, in order for the US to backdown.

If the US backs down, it's the same thing for them and to the rest of the World as well, it would be like WW3, like letting evil wins over good, forever, there will be chaos all around the globe and all these evil rogue Countries will celebrate..

1) Russia
2) China
3) NKorea
4) Iran
5)?
6)?
7)?
8)?

This kind of battle (if ever) should be done, short and swift..

While the US and it's Allies have already pinpointed their hotspots target, China will have a hard time catching huge multiple slugs coming from all directions, for the threats are already at their doorsteps.

Imo,

I'll tell you what's gonna happen, the US and it's Allies will continue with their activities under the scope of International law, challenging China's illegal activities in the WPS.
While the UN, US and it's Allies and other Western Allies will start the economic embargo against China, followed by uprising of the people, the collapse of the communist party, then democracy for a new China follows.
